Catching up with Comets ~ Luke Hodulik
This is a section where we would like to showcase and highlight the wonderful things Genoa graduates are doing in their selective career fields. The college and career ready component is something that Genoa high school is striving to focus on as we prepare students for a future. We hope that these thoughts and highlights shared will help spread some wisdom obtained by Genoa high school past graduates. This week, we will spotlight, Luke Hodulik a 2000 Comet graduate.
What was one good memory from high school that students today may enjoy hearing from your high school days?
My friends and I were founding members of the soccer club, which became a varsity boys sport in fall of 2000. Later, varsity girls was added. I love seeing the success of both teams today!
After high school what path led you to where you are today? (After HS until Today)
I attended Bowling Green State University on a full academic scholarship. I was undecided on a major for several years at BG, but had always been interested in anatomy and physiology, and other biomedical sciences. With my love for athletics and my fascination with the workings of the human body, I eventually settled on physical therapy. After receiving my bachelor’s degree from BGSU, I applied for PT school at the Medical College of Ohio, was accepted, and completed a 2.5 year clinical master’s degree in physical therapy. It was a lot of work! Since then I have worked as a physical therapist in geriatrics, orthopaedics, acute care, and now pediatrics.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan to open my own PT clinic and wellness center, and be the best father and husband I can be.
What would be one word of advice that you have for high school students now at Genoa?
First and foremost, take the time to appreciate and thank the people in your life who care about you, and show them that you care about them. This will get you farther than any test score ever can. Ask yourself each day what you can do to make someone else’s life better, and that goodwill will come back to you. Beyond that, you don’t have to have it all figured out by the time you graduate. You don’t have to have the perfect plan. Just make sure you have a plan - and give it everything you’ve got!
