We are excited to have the before mentioned experienced teachers at Pleasant Lake Elementary, including several who previously taught at PLE. They are looking forward to meeting our parents and children at next week's Meet and Greet!
2017-2018 Back to School Family Access Packet
Similar to previous years each family is required to complete the Back to School Family Access Packet. You can complete the packet through your Skyward Family Access Account.
Families that need linguistic support are welcomed to come to Pleasant Lake on Tuesday, September 29th from 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. for assistance completing the online packet.
Please click HERE to access helpful documents and informational videos on how to complete the Back to School Family Access Packet. All parents must complete the Online Back to School Information Packet prior to the start of the 2017-2018 school year.
If you need to acquire a new or lost Skyward Family Access Account code please send your name, student’s name, and daytime contact phone number to familyaccess@wlcsd.org or you can call (248) 956-2190.
Important Upcoming Dates
Teacher Meet & Greet on Wednesday, August 30th from 2:00-3:00 p.m. (1st-5th Grade)
You and your child are welcomed to meet their teacher in the classroom. You may also drop off your child’s classroom supplies at that time. Please be sure to have the classroom supplies labeled with your child’s name. The Meet and Greet is a wonderful opportunity for you to briefly meet your child’s teacher, drop off classroom supplies and note the location of the classroom.
Please contact your child’s classroom teacher if you need to share any important information regarding your child. Questions regarding our curriculum, classroom procedures and expectations will be answered at Curriculum Night.
Kindergarten Meet and Greet on on Tuesday, August 29th from 5:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
Incoming Kindergartners and their parents are invited to attend our Kindergarten Meet and Greet.
Students with a last name beginning with the letters A-L are invited to attend from 5:00 p.m.-5:30 p.m. and M-Z from 5:30 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
Come meet your child's teacher and participate in a fun Pleasant Lake Elementary Scavenger Hunt so that you and your child become familiar with our school and their classroom. You can also drop off your child's classroom supplies during the Kindergarten Meet and Greet.
First Day of School is on Tuesday, September 5th.
It is a full day of school for students in 1st grade-12th grade. Incoming Kindergartners will have a staggered start.
To help our youngest learner’s transition into Kindergarten, Walled Lake Schools will be utilizing a staggered start on the first day of school, which is on Tuesday, September 5th. Students with last name beginning with the letters A-L will attend school in the a.m. and M-Z in the p.m .Please note the following information:
Students with Last Name starting with A-L
Attend Kindergarten in the Morning
8:55 a.m. - 12:09 p.m.
Students with Last Name starting with M-Z
Attend Kindergarten in the Afternoon
1:00 p.m. - 3:58 p.m.
Please note the following information from our transportation department:
- Bus transportation will be provided on the first day of school for those students who are eligible for bus transportation throughout the regular school year.
- Bus routes will be posted on the district website on August 22nd.
- Bus drivers will be contacting families between August 25th-30th.
- Transportation will be sending out postcards to families on August 29th.
- If your child is eligible for bus transportation, it is recommended that they start this routine on the first day of school. Parents are welcome to follow the bus to school to see your child off to their first day of school, but it is highly recommended that they ride the bus to and from school this first day if they will be riding daily during the school year.
- Students who are not eligible for bus transportation will need to be dropped off and picked up through the main office on the first day of school, including students who may typically walk to/from school.
- Due to the half day, Kindergarteners will not have lunch on Tuesday, September 5th.
If you have questions regarding the staggered start, please call the main office at 248.956.2800. Any questions regarding busing can be answered by calling our Transportation Department between 5:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. at 248.956.3090.
Kindergarten Parent “Boo Hoo” Breakfast on Wednesday, September 6th
To welcome our incoming Kindergarten Parents, our PLE PTA has scheduled a special "Boo Hoo" Breakfast for all Kindergarten Parents in the Media Center on the first full day of school on Wednesday, September 6th. This will take place from approximately 9:10 a.m.-10:00 a.m. after students have settled in their classrooms.
Kindergarten Parents are encouraged to stop by the Media Center before they leave for the day for light refreshments and to meet and greet PTA Board Members. Parents will receive important school information, sign up for the PTA and get the chance to network and meet other Kindergarten Parents at Pleasant Lake Elementary.
Welcome Back Celebration on Friday, September 8th from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Curriculum Nights
We respectfully ask that only parents and guardians attend Curriculum Night.
- Monday, September 11th- 5th Grade at 6:00 p.m. and 4th Grade at 7:00 p.m.
- Tuesday September 12th- 3rd grade at 6:00 p.m. and 2nd grade at 7:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, September 13th- 1st grade at 6:00 p.m. and Kindergarten at 7:00 p.m.
Anchors Away
2017-2018 Anchors Away registration forms are available by clicking HERE or by visiting the For Parent Tab on our school website. Please note that this year we will not have an online registration form to complete. You can print out a hard copy of the form at home or get a form from the main office. Car sign numbers can be picked up in our main office between the hours of 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday. The main office will be closed on Wednesday, August 23rd.
You also have the opportunity to complete a registration form and receive your car sign number at our Kindergarten Meet and Greet on Tuesday, August 29th and the 1st-5th Grade Meet and Greet on Wednesday, August 30th. Simply note your child’s name and grade level in the appropriate section of the form if you are submitting it prior to being notified of your child’s classroom assignment on Friday, August 25th.
The Anchors Away Dismissal Process will begin on the first day of school. All students who do not ride the bus or are not enrolled in Prime Time each day must register in Anchors Away. Please remember this is not an optional program. Due to building safety and security procedures parents are not allowed into the building at dismissal time.
Last year’s registration forms and car signs will not be used this school year. Parents must again register their child(ren) for Anchors Away this upcoming school year. Please discard last year’s car sign numbers.
