Johnson/Lutz Weekly Newsletter
Week of January 16-19
What are we learning this week?
Math
- I can use a number line to generate equivalent fractions.
- I can use a visual model to generate and explain equivalent fractions.
Science
Organisms with particular traits may be more likely than others to survive and produce offspring.
Nature improves organisms when there are a variety of traits competing for survival. The more types of traits in a population, the more likely one of those organisms will survive and reproduce.
A trait is a characteristic that an organism inherits from its parents; it is not a choice.

The spelling test will be on Friday, February 9thImportant Upcoming Dates
Mrs. Lutz's birthday is Friday, February 2nd!
Valentine’s Day is also coming up! We will not have a Valentines Party because the upper grades choose to have a Christmas party and End of the Year Party each year. However, we will spend a little bit of time that day celebrating Valentine’s Day on Tuesday, February 14th ! Students are welcome to bring in their Valentines to each other. We ask that you do not worry about writing who each Valentine is for, but just write who it is from. Each student will be provided with a bag to put their valentines in. We have 21 students in Mrs. Lutz's class and 20 in Mrs. Johnson's class.
All Lost and Found Items will be donated on January 31. If your child is missing any items, please encourage them to check the lost and found. Please make sure your child's name is on all jackets, water bottles, and lunch boxes.
The school will be giving a practice ACAP test for students February 12-14. Every child will need working headphones for the practice test. Please bring them to school by Tuesday next week, so we can test them with the computer before the practice test.
