May It Be of Benefit

Hello Families,

With only 3 weeks of school left, I'm hearing a lot of questions about "next school year". Will we return to a full-day schedule? Will students have to stay in stable groups/cohorts? Will we still have to wear masks? Can parents and volunteers return to campus? I wish that I had answers, but alas, none of this has been settled yet. As we have come to expect with this pandemic, the answer is often, "It depends." So much will depend upon the immunity levels and outbreak numbers in August of 2021. My fingers are crossed for as much normalcy as possible. I will go out on a limb and say that I expect us to return to a full-day schedule. The reduced day was in response to the high Covid numbers last August. Shortening the day was just one of the precautions put in place to reduce exposure and was allowed because the state had reduced the required number of minutes students had to be in school. Barring another surge/outbreak, I would guess that we will return to the normal school schedule. All other questions are outside of my speculation comfort level.

Here's what I do know for sure. We have all (parents, students, and school) worked together this year to make the best of a very challenging situation, and if we can successfully navigate this year, we will do even better next year, regardless of the parameters. We can do hard things. We have already done them! And, one more thing, I can promise you that I will continue to keep you informed. When decisions are made about the length of the day, stable groups, masks, etc, I will share them with families and staff so that you can be prepared and responsive. With optimism, effort, and grace, we are unstoppable!

With gratitude,

Mrs. Gold
