CHARACTER EDUCATION THEME FOR JANUARY: PERSEVERANCE AND COURAGE

Spend some time reflecting about what perseverance and courage mean to you, and how you use these traits in your everyday life. Sharing personal stories with your students is one way to make Character Education meaningful to your students.

TECHNOLOGY TIP for JANUARY

Special thanks to Karen Tiffin for sharing our monthly Technology Tips!

Google Photos:

Upload and back-up photos from your mobile device or computer using Google Photos. You have unlimited space in Google Photos and you can use their handy Albums to quickly find special photos by people, places, or dates. One of the options in Google Photos lets you crop, recolor, and add filters to your photos. You can select pictures, create albums, and easily share them with others.

In conjunction with Google Photos, you can quickly create photo slide shows using the albums you create in Google Photos, Google Slides, and an Add-on called Photos to Slides. The add-on will take all of the photos that you have saved in a Google Photos album and set one photo per slide in a Google slides presentation. Spice up your presentation by using different backgrounds and word-art.

Soundzabound Music

GPISD has added 2 new volumes, v10 & Epic Moments, to the music library through Soundzabound.

Perfect for podcasts, classroom music/sounds, PowerPoint™, videos, news, shows, video yearbooks, digital storytelling, presentations, TV broadcasts, web design and more! Our students & staff members needing music should pull from these volumes to protect our system against copyright infringements. Soundzabound is included in ClassLink and the generic login information for everyone is:

  • username = galenapark
  • pw = galenamusic

Please help spread the word and share this information with all students & faculty members. A good time to share is when you are discussing copyright, research, digital citizenship topics, etc.

LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP SERIES

Galena Park I.S.D. is excited to announce the return of the Leadership Workshop Series (LWS) for the 2019-2020 school year. This series is a leadership development program for employees, from classroom teachers to current administrators, who want to lead more effectively. It is designed to sharpen relationship skills, a part of leadership that is often ignored in training programs while having fun and building valuable connections with other campus/district leaders. Please click on the link below for more information.
