Delighted to be back

We have been delighted to have all our classes back this week, and it is wonderful to see our school in full operation again. We hope that your child has enjoyed being back with their friends, learning in a classroom environment. We know that there will be a period of adjustment as children respond to the routine of school life again, and will continue to support them in doing this throughout their learning and play.

Social Distancing

Thank you for helping us to implement our Covid-19 risk assessment. Children are now used to washing and sanitising their hands, and are very conscious of the need to keep bubbles separate during the day. We have noticed, though, that a number of parents are not maintaining social distance on the playground. Please remember that only 1 adult should accompany children onto the site, and it is important to maintain social distance at all times. Please try not to wait too close to the playground gate, because this can obstruct access for others. Thank you.

Separating Bubbles

The need to continue separating bubbles at playtimes and lunchtime does mean that some children have to play on the field every day. Unfortunately, this will inevitably lead to them becoming muddy and we apologise for the state that some uniforms are getting in. Hopefully, warmer and drier weather after Easter will help to reduce this.

Children should continue to bring alternative footwear every day to reduce the amount of mud brought into school.

Lateral Flow Tests for Families

As you will be aware school staff are already testing twice weekly. The Government are now offering parents of primary school children the opportunity to take lateral flow tests. These are available to collect from any test collection centre, helping to identify asymptomatic cases in the community. You can pick up multiple packs of 7 tests at a time for twice weekly testing (the nearest to here is Selby).

School Lunches

The new School Lunch system is working well in school, the children are enjoying the daily choice. Next week we will be on Week 1 of the lunch menu.

Can you please ensure you discuss the menu each day with your child so they can decide what they would like for lunch. Once they know their choices, they will choose this each morning with their teacher during registration.

If your child starts the week with a school lunch then they will be on school lunches for the whole of that week. If your child starts the week with a packed lunch, they will be on packed lunches for the whole of that week.

Children can switch weekly between school lunches and packed lunches but not daily.

Each day there are 3 choices, either the hot dinner, the sandwich or the jacket potato with a choice of 3 toppings. The sandwich and jacket potato always come with a selection of vegetables/salad on the side and have the full pudding choice for that day.

Comic Relief

Red Nose Day is back on Friday 19th March and this year it’s never felt more important to have some fun and raise money to support people living incredibly tough lives. Not only do we need to provide safety to families who need support, but also tackle mental health stigma and help to give children a brighter future.

We will also be having a non-uniform day, so the children may come into school wearing fancy dress if they would like. The red noses this year are 100% plastic-free and in the style of woodland creatures, so they may wish to choose an animal theme. Alternatively, Comic Relief are also promoting the ‘superhero’ theme, so that may prove attractive to some children.

Donations for Comic Relief Red Nose Day can be made via ParentPay
