This week in first grade...

This week in reading we learned about autobiographies. We discussed what they were and talked about different examples of some we may have read. We talked about how inventors have helped changed our world and wrote down examples in our journals. We also had our LAST (you heard it right!!!!) LAST word study test. This means all word study journals can be kept at home.

Next week we will be working on our autobiography pieces. If you have not brought in your pictures yet please do so by Monday.

In Math, we started our unit on 3D shapes. We talked about what vertices, faces and edges were is explored, cubes, prisms, cylinder and cones. Next week we will finish this unit. We will be having our last unit test on Friday.

In Science, we have been learning all about the life cycle of a chick. Of course you have seen all the fun we have been having through our chick journals and twitter. You will find an additional SMORE about the chicks below.

Coming up.....

The Spring Concert is on Thursday. Please bring in all money for costumes by MONDAY. Students should come dressed for the concert on Thursday night.

Field Day is Friday. If you would like to volunteer to help Mr. Wyatt please contact him @

In the last few weeks we will be learning about solid, liquids and gases, interviewing each other and will be creating a classroom memory book! We will also be "counting down" the days with a special balloon bulletin board quite soon!

Students explaining Life Cycles

The students read different books about life cycles and then had to create a MyStory showing their knowledge. This was all student led so no rubric or amount of pages were given. All additional Life Cycle My Stories will be sent through SeeSaw!
