PREPARING FOR 2019-20 SCHOOL YEAR

Now is a great time to make appointments for physicals, eye and dental appointments, medication refills, and immunization updates.

Immunization updates are especially important for PK, K, 7th and 12th grade students.

Pre-School Fall 2019 Paperwork

Will you have a Pre-School student in the fall of 2019? Here are the forms required for preschoolers;

  1. Health History Form

  2. Immunization Record with required Preschool vaccines

  3. PreSchool Physical

  4. Optional for those with food allergies: Diet Modification Form

  5. Optional for those who need daily or emergency medication at school: Medication Administration Form


Kindergarten Fall 2019 Paperwork

Will you have a Kindergarten student in the fall of 2019? What an exciting and busy time. Just a friendly reminder of all the paperwork required before school starts in the fall:

  1. Health History Form

  2. Immunization Record with required Kindergarten vaccines

  3. Kindergarten Physical

  4. Dental exam (within 1 year of start of school)

  5. Vision exam (within 1 year of start of school)

  1. Optional for those with food allergies: Diet Modification Form

Attention fall 7th GRADERS and fall SENIORS!!

There are immunization requirements for Fall 2019. There is no grace period so:

Up-to-date vaccine records must be turned in before the first day of school in the fall so your student can be in school!


7th grade: in addition to the Tdap requirement already in place for 7th graders, the NEW requirement is for 1 dose of Meningococcal vaccine on or after 10 years of age and grade 7 if born after September 15, 2004.


12th grade: Requirement is for TWO doses of Meningococcal vaccine for those entering 12th grade if born after September 15, 1999 OR 1 dose if received when the student is 16 years of age or older.

UPCOMING ONLINE REGISTRATION FOR 2019-20

In order to register* your child(ren) for school this summer, your JMC username and password is necessary to begin the registration process. If you do not remember login information, please contact your child's school office A.S.A.P. (contact information below). School building offices are closed after next week, so NOW is the time to ask for login assistance.

JMC is a great source of information to stay up-to-date with your child's academics THROUGHOUT the SCHOOL YEAR. Parents/guardians can utilize JMC year-round to:

  • view LUNCH TRANSACTIONS (& link to www.payforit.net is available for lunch payments)
  • view/print student REPORT cards
  • bus information (currently being updated)
  • review student health and attendance records
    • view/print student TRANSCRIPTS
    • verify student SCHEDULES and advisors
    • verify/update parent/guardian CONTACT information

    *online registration (JMC & Pay For It) is available for Kinderprep - 12th grade. To register for 4 yr. old preschool, Please contact Sue at West Elem. 641-842-2185 opt. 1 or:

    Two class options:

    • Morning classes are 8:15 to 11:00, Tues.-Fri. OR
    • Afternoon classes are 12:00-2:45, Tues.-Fri.

    FEES, FINES, & MEAL ACCOUNT BALANCES

    As the end of the 2018-19 school year draws near, now is a good time to check to make sure all past due registration fees, computer fines and/or negative lunch balances have been paid. All payments can be made through parent/guardian account at www.payforit.net. Check this off your list so you're ready to start the 2019-20 out fresh with no past dues to be paid! Questions?     Audition Requirements for Principal Singing or Speaking Role

    32 bars of a Rodgers & Hammerstein Song NOT from Oklahoma. Must provide sheet music in correct key for accompanist. No recorded accompaniment or acapella.


    One 30 second minimum 1min maximum monologue from a published play WITH A SOUTHERN DIALECT. No restrictions other than it has to be from a published play...no random monologue websites or film/tv/web etc...


    Dance Call: EVERYONE is required to participate in dance call. There will be TWO sections.

    2. Dancers

    You will select the appropriate section for your ability.


    Audition Requirements for Ensemble

    Learn first verse and chorus of song Oklahoma (I’ll send out music first of school year)


    Recite Pledge of Allegiance in your best Southern Accent


    Dance Call: EVERYONE is required to participate in dance call. There will be TWO sections.

    Audition Requirements for Dream Ballet Company

    Dancer Dance Call on Oct 21 and a signed off conflict sheet from your parent/guardian.


    Requirements for Crew Members

    Come meet Annie and Troy on Oct 21 or 22 during audition/callbacks and sign up for what areas you’re interested in. They will have a contact sheet for you to fill out and a calendar of dates for you. Also please provide any known conflicts at that time.

    1st Grade Pen Pals

    This year the first graders from Mrs. DeMoss' class have been writing to Pen Pals in Mrs. Fessler's class at Madison Elementary in Pella. The first graders from both classes loved writing and getting letters from each other. The students were able to meet their pen pals this week! The first graders enjoyed getting to spend an afternoon with their pen pal. So many great friendships have been formed through this fun project!

    Habitat for Humanity of Marion County Accepting Applications

    Habitat for Humanity of Marion County will be accepting applications for a home in Pella from May 25 – June 25. Late applications will not be accepted.
