Leadership Message - School's Out for Summer!
The end of the school year is a time to celebrate the accomplishments of our school and its students and acknowledge our committed staff. It is a time to look back at our successes and begin making plans to build on those successes for the upcoming school year.
The students have had a remarkable year!! This would not have been possible without our committed and enthusiastic staff who work tirelessly to provide a quality, faith-based education for our children. I am honored to be their Principal. “Thank you” is not enough for all they consistently give to the ministry of Catholic education.
St. John XXIII Catholic School is a very special place where a sense of community is evident in everything that we do! You feel it as you enter the door, walk across the parking lot or attend a school function. Our St. John families have great love for this school! Our progress and our desire for continuous school improvement is because of you and your children. We will continue to put your children first!
I would like to express my heartfelt thanks to all of our families and volunteers for their dedication, time, energy, prayers, generosity and support of our efforts throughout the school year. We could not have done it without you. “Thank you” for partnering with us in the education of our children.
So, to all of our students, teachers and parents, I would like to say “Thank you” for the gift of this school year. May God bless and keep you always and may He hold you in the palm of His hand. My best wishes for a safe, restful and fun-filled summer vacation!
Summer blessings,
Mrs. Tracy Melnyk, Principal
Meet the New Staff...
"I am very excited to teach grade 2 next year at St. John! I have previously taught both kindergarten and grade 1. My favorite subject to teach is reading and I am going to spend the summer looking for all the best grade 2 stories.
I have 2 teenage daughters. We like to travel as much as we can, but only as long as there is a hotel, no camping! I also love to go running...slowly. Here is a picture of me ..."
Miss Racher Carr...Grade 4
"Hello! My name is Rachel Carr and I am SO excited to get started with my new position at St. John XXIII in September! I have been teaching Grade 4 at Vanier Community Catholic School in Edson for the past 2 years and am looking forward to resuming city life again soon!
I have enjoyed living so close to the mountains and being able to enjoy the outdoors, whatever the weather! I am a yoga enthusiast and enjoy cooking and baking very much. My favourite way to spend the summer is either on a patio with friends and family or on a picnic at the Legislature grounds! I hope you all have a safe and enjoyable summer; see you in the fall! Here is a picture of me..."
"Hello! My name is Stephanie Starko and I am so excited to join the St. John XXIII community!
I'd like to share with you a little bit about myself. One of my favourite things to do is to spend time with my family. My husband enjoys farming near Lamont, where we call "home". We are the "cool" aunty and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Staying active and spending time outdoors keeps me busy, when farming and teaching doesn't!
I enjoy coffee, purple, baking, golf, the Eskimos, the Oilers, the mountains, the lake, and singing! I love teaching, and just can't wait to get started in Grade 2! See you in August! Here is a picture of me..." ~Mrs. Starko
"Hi! My name is Mrs. Kozyra. I am excited to be joining the team at St. John XXIII and I am most looking forward to making new friends and having new adventures.
I enjoy being active and playing sports like soccer, baseball and tennis. I like to cook and bake and, most importantly, eat! My family and I enjoy travelling and experiencing new cultures, activities and foods. I am looking forward to a great 2017-2018 school year! Here is a picture of me..."
"My name is Ms. Csernyanszki. I am very excited to be joining the team at St. John XXII and I can not wait to meet all the wonderful students and staff. I am a teacher with a passion for learning and a mind full of ideas. When I am not busy with school work I love to travel, go camping, and play with my puppy Izzy. Nothing is more exciting than jumping in a car and seeing where the road takes you! I also have a passion for soccer and hockey. Even though I can’t skate very well, I still make time to cheer on my favorite hockey team. Go Oilers Go! Here is a picture of me and my dog... "
