The Weekly Howl
St. Francis Catholic School - Sunday, February 21st
Dear Parents & Friends of SFCS,
- Please remember to not pack meat in your child's lunch on Fridays during Lent.
- We are having an increase in the amount of students arriving late. Remember that the bell to begin the day rings at 8:00am.
- Get your SFCS value card! Check out more info in the FSA section below. It is a great way to get discounts for some of our favorite local businesses.
- Hair Cuts!!! Make sure that our boys are following the dress code for haircuts. Hair needs to be above the eye brows and ears and off the the collar.
We have been doing well with a decrease number of positive COVID-19 cases and close contacts. Right now we have 1 student who has tested positive and two students that are close contacts. Thank you for everyone for cooperating with our COVID-19 Guidelines in keeping our community safe and healthy.
I hope everyone has a wonderful remainder to your weekend!
Sincerely in Christ,
Brian Pope
Principal

If you are attending the Friday 8:30 a.m. Stations of the Cross during Lent, please look around your home to see if you can find your copy of the Stations of the Cross. Stations schedule for Friday after 8:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. Daily Mass and 7 p.m. in Spanish, during Lent.
As many of you know, we will be taking reservations for Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil, and Easter Sunday. I will start taking reservations for Palm Sunday ONLY on Monday, March 15th. Palm Sunday Mass schedule:
SATURDAY VIGIL - MARCH 27TH
4:00 p.m. - both Church and Gym
5:30 p.m. - Church only
7:00 p.m. - (Spanish) - Church only
SUNDAY - MARCH 28TH
7:30 a.m. - Church only
9:00 a.m. - both Church and Gym
10:30 a.m. - both Church and Gym
Noon - Church only
Please remember that we by taking reservations, we are trying our best to keep everyone distanced and safe while we are worshiping together.
That being said, because we are taking reservations, the need to have at least 4 ushers per Mass and at least two greeters is imperative. If you are willing to help out taking folks to their seats or checking people in for any reservation Mass, please let me know. And you get to make many more friends because you get to know everyone's name! Winning!
The beautiful columbarium area has now been pressure washed. All items were removed from the niches and are being kept in the office for pickup. Items still in the office at the end of Feb. will be disposed of. As a reminder, on the license for the niches it states that ONLY 4” CLAY POTS SHOULD BE USED FOR YOUR LIVE OR ARTIFICAL FLOWERS. SMALLER ITEMS MUST SOMEHOW BE DISPLAYED IN A 4” CLAY POT AND NOT JUST LAID ON THE NICHE. PLEASE DO NOT USE ANY ADHESIVE! BE RESPECTFUL OF THE NICHES AROUND YOURS AND ADHERE TO THE REGULATIONS. Any items not in compliance will be removed. Thank you.
HOLY WATER FONT - The Diocese has given us permission to fill the large holy water font in the Church Narthex. You may bring your own bottle to fill (no larger than 8 to 12 ounce bottles, please). Please be sure to sanitize your hands before and after you fill your bottle. We will not be filling the holy water fonts around the Church at this time.

JPII National Merit Finalist Announced
John Paul II Catholic School is proud to announce senior Gracyn Kenyon has been elevated to National Merit Finalist by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation - the school’s first-ever Finalist. Gracyn had been notified in September 2020 that she was a Semifinalist.
Gracyn will continue in the competition vying for 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million offered in the spring.
"Gracyn is one of the brightest students I have encountered in my long career in education," said JPII Principal John McCarthy. "Her classroom insights and contributions are amazing."
