A Word From Mrs. Loor
It was a big week for 5th grade! Between the teachers versus students floor hockey game, engaging in debates and the Living Wax Museum, it's been a couple of jam-packed, fun and learning-filled days.
We are enjoying our new recess equipment. Thank you to the PTO! Third graders finished up the CogATs last week. There are many exciting things going on this week such as the P.E. Showcase. We are looking forward to seeing many of you there. Please note that no siblings will be allowed to join. We will also be celebrating the Neurodiversity Week. See below for more information on both.
Final Reminder: Please click HERE for more information about the class placement process for next year and to fill out the optional parent input form. All responses need to be submitted by Friday, March 31st. No responses will be accepted after this date.
Have a great week!
With Warmest Regards,
Mrs. Loor

Neurodiversity Celebration
This year, Franklin School will be celebrating “Neurodiversity Week” during the week of March 27th in order to recognize the many talents and advantages of being neurodivergent while creating more inclusive and equitable cultures that celebrate differences and empower every individual. Throughout the week, students and staff will celebrate by discussing the strengths and talents of neurodiverse learners as well as creating a school-wide bulletin board that celebrates our differences. We will also be chalking the walk with quotes about inclusion and kindness. We will culminate the week with a spirit day on Friday, March 31st. Students and staff are encouraged to wear tie dye or red in support of neurodiversity acceptance.

Visiting Author!
On Monday, April 24, 2023, Franklin School will host NJ author Linda Bozzo! Linda Bozzo has written over 50 books for children and is best known for her nonfiction work about animals. She will share with our students the process of writing and creating books. In addition, she will stay after school to work with teachers on incorporating nonfiction writing into student lessons. Throughout April, our library lessons will include Linda Bozzo’s books! For more information, please visit her website.
Thank you to the PTO for sponsoring this visit! If you’d like to purchase a book to be signed and personalized, please submit an order form (if one did not come home with your child yet, you can print it here and send it in). I ask that orders be returned by THIS FRIDAY, March 31, 2023, in order to have the books at school in time for our visit.
If you have any questions, please feel free to email me at jmills@summit.k12.nj.us
