Field Day Dates and Details

Dear Parents,

Our Chavez Elementary Field Day is right around the corner, and I would like to share a few things with you about our upcoming event.

This year we will be holding our Field Day on two days Wednesday May 4th, 2022 will be our 3rd-5th Grade Field Day, and Wednesday May 11th, 2022 will be our K-2nd Grade Field Day. Activities will be held at the Little Elm Athletic Complex. Below are the schedules for both days:

  • 3rd-5th Grade: May 4th, 2022. Activities will begin at 9:15am. Lunch will be at the conclusion of the morning session (11:40am-12:20pm). Afternoon session will begin at 12:30pm and will conclude by 1:30pm.

  • K-2nd Grade: May 11th, 2022. Activities will begin at 9:45am and will conclude by 1:30pm.

Lunch Break will be from 11:15am-11:45am.

Since we will be holding our activities outside, we would like to share a few important things to help ensure our participants have an enjoyable experience. Because our participants will be competing and sweating, it is very important that they drink adequate amounts of fluids to help maintain hydration and replenish electrolytes they lose while competing. We would like to address acceptable and unacceptable types of drinks the students may bring. Acceptable drinks include bottled water. Unacceptable drinks include soda pop, and carbonated drinks. ALL drinks must be in plastic containers. GLASS CONTAINERS or CANS ARE NOT ALLOWED!!! Please DO NOT send gum, candy or sunflower seeds with your child. We will be competing in activities on the football field and track, and these types of snacks are not allowed on the playing surface. Bottle water will only be allowed down on the track and playing surface. There will be a concession stand available in the concourse under the home side bleachers. PLEASE be mindful of the above mentioned information concerning drinks and food on the track and playing surface.

Since the days are becoming warmer and the students will be running and competing, we recommend that the students wear clothing that is comfortable and appropriate for Field Day activities. We strongly discourage sleeveless t-shirts and tank tops, which leave the sensitive shoulders of the participants exposed to the sun and risk getting sunburned. Shorts, a short sleeved t-shirt, a cap or hat, athletic shoes and sun screen are recommended. FOOTBALL OR SOCCER CLEATS, SANDALS, FLIP-FLOPS, or other OPEN-TOED SHOES ARE NOT ALLOWED!!! Students who wear these types of shoes WILL NOT be allowed to participate. The above mentioned recommendations are out of our utmost concern for the safety and well-being of each child.

Finally, we would like to personally invite parents to come out and enjoy a fun-filled day with your child and their classmates at our Chavez Elementary Field Day. If you plan on attending our Field Day, PLEASE come to Chavez and sign in and pick up a name badge at the front office before coming to LEAC.

We hope to see you there!!!

Our playground has been muddy recently. If you have borrowed them, please return shoes and clothes back to the clinic as soon as possible so that they are available for other students.

Chavez Learns

Wow time flies by!

The end of the year is upon us. Each and every day we are still making learning our #1 priority for our Chavez Champions!

Our team has reflected about all the amazing things we have accomplished. So much to celebrate for sure. Here are a few highlights:

We recognized students for growth. We believe that every learner can grow and we have are closely checking everyday to make sure students are learning. Ask your student about checks and dots in class.

We returned to "in person" living - visitors for lunch, class parties and awards.

We offered safe options for all families- if you want to wear a mask great, need a desk shield great, you feel you don't either - that is great too.

Field trips are back -our learners love getting out into the community. Thanks to all of our chaperones- you made it possible!

We truly have a campus where teachers LOVE to teach, students LOVE to learn and our community LOVE to call home! What more could we ask for?1?!

Please stay tuned to teacher communication, our campus Facebook and our newsletter so you don't miss out on the celebrations and campus activities.

With lots of LOBO love,

Christine Gibson
