Adaptive Radiation Project

Cichlid are fish that are one the most diverse vertebrates in the world. There are more than 1600 species of Cichlid. Most of these are within east African lakes. These lakes which are very isolated from oceans being several thousand miles from the coast. I am one of said cichlid of the species Nimbochromis livingstonii.
Nimbochromis livingstonii have a brown and mottled white complexation. The color of the males changes frequently. Our diet consists mostly of smaller fish.
As I am a chronicler of my race I must explain what. Our ancestors are believed to have been a hybridization of the Congo and Nile Cichlid. These hybrids were stuck inside of the many african lakes. The Cichlid filled many biological niches as a result of their isolation. This is an example of the human concept of adaptive radiation. We as you humans speak of follow the concept of piliana as we work together to perform all of the biological tasks normally filled by other fish.
