Extension Tutoring
We have student tutoring available at WVHS during extension. If your student needs a tutor, please have them stop by room 214 and talk to Ms. Zundel. Students can also email: [julie.zundel@k12northstar.org]
Quarter 1 ends on Oct 15th
First Quarter ends on Friday, October 15th. Unlike last year where grades were finalized for transcripts at the end of the quarter, this year we are back to semester long courses. The end of the quarter grades will provide some feedback for families on student progress, but will continue to calculate throughout the rest of the semester and finalized on transcripts in December after final exams.
Activities Eligibility Reminders -
For students who are interested in participating in Activities such as Athletics or Co-Curricular activities, quarter 1 grades will be used to determine eligibility. Here is a reminder of our participation guidelines from the FNSBSD and ASAA.
Freshmen, sophomores and juniors
- All freshman, sophomore and junior students must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 semester units of credit or the equivalent to be eligible.
- Must have passed at least 5 semester units of credit or the equivalent during the previous semester.
- Must have maintained at least an overall 2.0 GPA during the previous semester
- Those who have not maintained an overall 2.0 GPA during the previous semester may regain eligibility during the current semester by achieving and maintaining an overall 2.0 GPA within the school’s grading system.
Seniors:
- Seniors who are on track to graduate must take at least 4 semester units of credit or the equivalent to be eligible.
- Other seniors must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 semester units of credit or the equivalent to be eligible.
- All seniors must have maintained at least an overall 2.0 GPA during the previous semester.
ASAA - Eligibility & Participation (pg 43-45)
Bathroom Vandalism
Please know that we have had to close down bathrooms at various times throughout the year thus far while we have both cleaned up and waited for repairs after incidents of vandalism. We strive to have them back open as quickly as we can, however, we recognize that the closures may cause frustration in the mean time.
On Sept 15, I shared with teachers and students through a video message that as a school community, our "Wolfpack Way" is to respect our school as a whole and such incidents of vandalism are costly in many different ways.
As a school, we recognize that students have more transitions than they can likely count in the past 18 months. However, we know that together we are stronger, and can overcome setbacks like these. Thank you to students and families for your support on addressing issues such as these that do not reflect our school values.
1:1 devices for every student at WVHS
As a reminder, we have been working to ensure that our students are 1:1 with technology in order to support transitions that may happen throughout the year due to illness or quarantine. We ask students to have a device in school every day so that they can access online materials in class.
If your student still needs a device or encounters issues with their device, please contact the library. Plan to bring your Chromebook or other device to classes each school day. Be sure it is fully charged for class.
Thank You for Wearing Your Mask!
Since the implementation of Universal Masking for staff and students on September 13, we want to say thank you to all of our students for following this health protocol as another layer of mitigation for the health of our school community.
We always have masks available for students who forget theirs, but also encourage students to bring a mask to school with them that they find most comfortable to wear for the entire day.
As a reminder you can always check the COVID Case Count Dashboard and the Mitigation Procedures for Maintaining In-Person Learning on the School District's website.
