National School Counseling Week, "Celebrate School Counseling," will be celebrated from February 2-6, 2015, to focus public attention on the unique contribution of professional school counselors. National School Counseling Week, sponsored by ASCA, highlights the tremendous impact school counselors can have in helping students achieve school success and plan for a career. Research Study: School Counselors’ Use of Online Technology Tools for Professional Purposes.

The primary research questions of this study are:


  • What online technology tools are currently and commonly used by school counselors?
  • How are school counselors using these tools for professional purposes?
  • For whom and with which audiences are school counselors using these tools?
  • What are the benefits and challenges of using these tools in the school counselor's role?


This study is being conducted by Dr. Erin Mason of the Counseling and Special Education Department in the College of Education at DePaul University. This study is conducted with practices and procedures that preserve the rights and protection of human subjects and is approved by the Institutional Review Board of DePaul University.
