Principally Speaking

Have you been receiving communications from the school? If not, please check your Infinite Campus Parent Portal settings. There are a series of checkboxes that you must select by each method of communication - cell phone, primary email, or secondary email. For example, on your cell phone, you can elect to receive text messages and voice messages. You can also elect which type of messages to receive on that cell phone number such as general messages, emergency messages, and more.

If you need help accessing your Infinite Campus Parent Portal, please call the school office for assistance. Have a wonderful and restful weekend. As always, I am honored and thankful to serve you and your students as the principal of Danville Community Middle School.

Sincerely,

Marsha Webster

Principal

Please Call to Report Your Student Absent

If your student is absent or late for any reason, please call 317-718-2331 to report the absence. This number is available 24 hours a day seven days a week.

New Transportation Policy for Bus Passes

In order to be sure parents know about transportation changes, all requests to ride a bus other than a student's assigned bus must now be requested using the DCSC Bus Change Form. The form is available on the website and is located here for you to download: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1UZuafUPhTgW1RYXh_Si3juekXZOpA64x/view?usp=sharing.

Nutrition Club

The Nutrition Club provides supplemental weekend food for children at North, South and the Middle School each Friday during the school year. We all struggle at some point. The goal of this program is to ease a bit of the struggle. You are welcome to sign-up at any point during the school year. The food will be sent home in a plastic bag that can fit inside a school backpack or be carried. You only complete one form per family. List all of your children that you would like to participate. Each child in your family will receive their own cinch sack or bag on Fridays throughout the school year. This program is the result of the generosity of the Danville community!

Please contact Chrissy Larkin with any questions. clarkin9893@aol.com or 317-563-2498. Please click on the link below for the form:

Character Focus for August

noun

1.the state or quality of being kind : kindness to animals.

2.a kind act; favor: his many kindnesses to me.

3.kind behavior: I will never forget your kindness.

Majority of messages from media in today's world encourage one to look out for oneself; do what feels good or makes one happy. We are not reminded to be kind or to think of others better than yourself. At DCMS, we promote and directly teach about kindness and what it looks like.

Please join us in talking with your student this weekend about kindness. Some conversation starters you might use are the following:

  • What did you do this week that was kind/unkind to someone else?
  • When was someone kind/unkind to you this week?
  • How could we be kind this weekend?

Expectations for Home Football Games

In an effort to maintain a safe and orderly environment at our home football games, so that ALL fans can enjoy the games, DCMS is asking parents to please help us in our effort by reviewing these expectations with their middle school and elementary students before they attend.

  • Students are encouraged to enter the game with an adult.
  • Students are to sit in the designated home bleachers. They can also sit with their parents.
  • Students are to be seated during the game to watch the game. Do not wander around stadium.
  • Concessions are available at the concession stand.
  • Students should return to their seats after going to the concession stand or using the restrooms.
  • For safety reasons, please leave footballs, soccer balls, kick balls, etc. at home. Ball playing and/or tag games are best saved for home.
  • Always exhibit good sportsmanship by...

  1. Being respectful during the National Anthem, school songs, and player introductions.
  2. Never booing or yelling at officials or opposing players.
  3. Cheering for the players.
  4. Representing Danville in a positive manner.
  5. Being respectful of other students and adults attending the game.

Cummins Behavioral Health Partnership for School Based Services

We continue our partnership with Cummins Behavioral Health Systems to provide a variety of services for students and families. We are excited to introduce our new school based therapist, Taylor Gibbs.

How Can the Partnership Benefit Students and Families

  • School personnel and Cummin's staff are able to quickly identify needs that students may have.
  • Cummins staff are located at the school and work hand in hand with teachers, school counselors, parents, and students.
  • Parents/guardians are consulted each step along the way and are active participants in planning and carrying out treatment.
  • Most services can be provided at the school or in the home, making it more convenient - and they are available year round.
  • Services are strictly confidential and no care will be provided unless the parent/guardian gives permission.

All we ask is that you become actively involved in your child's care. When parents, school, and behavioral health professionals combine their knowledge, amazing things can happen!
