For the parents and patrons of the Fulton School District

A message from the Superintendent
Dear Parents and Patrons,
A current buzz around the state from the Missouri Department of Economic Development is the National Career Readiness Certificate. Rather than attempting to write an explanation, the information below is posted on the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education web site and has been distributed in other materials.
Missouri/National Career Readiness Certificate
A product of ACT Inc., WorkKeys is a job skills assessment system that offers Career Readiness Certificates (CRCs) to individuals who achieve adequate scores on tests of core work competencies. The Missouri Department of Economic Development (DED) has started statewide implementation of the Missouri CRC for the adult workforce. The DED is planning to locate testing centers throughout the 14 regions of the state.
The Missouri and National CRCs are based on the levels Gold (5), Silver (4), and Bronze (3), attained on the three WorkKeys assessments: Reading for Information, Applied Mathematics, and Locating Information. While employers and organizations most commonly use the three CRC tests, they may also opt to use the other six WorkKeys assessments: Applied Technology, Writing, Business Writing, Teamwork, Observation, and Listening.
This statewide initiative is embraced by Callaway County officials and businesses. FPS and other districts have been requested to provide the testing in support of our community. However, funding was the major impediment. Fortunately, Presiding Commissioner, Gary Jungermann secured funding for 25 students in each Callaway County public school to participate in this test. Consequently, your FPS Guidance staff is now notifying students of this opportunity.
Test outcomes, as indicated above, are levels that can be used as an employment competency certificate for participating employers to use for job placement. Currently, AZZ requires this test prior to employment. I understand that other Callaway employers are committing to use the test results. Ideally, it is believed the WorkKeys certificates could lead to employment directly out of high school, if a student desires.
If your student is interested in this assessment please direct him/her to an FHS Counselor.
Finally, a big thank you to Presiding Commissioner Jungermann for securing funding so Callaway County students have this opportunity.
Thank you for sending great kids for us to work with!
Jacque A. Cowherd, Ed.D.
McIntire Awarded Exemplary Status
Congratulations, McIntire Elementary!
School Board Recognition Week
Fulton Public Schools teachers and students made it very clear that the FPS Board is very appreciated. Many cards, posters, and pictures were made in their honor.
Thank you, Fulton Foundation!
Each year, the Foundation awards FPS teachers with grants to use in their classrooms. Ranging from grants using chrome books to grants for maker spaces, these grants definitely enhance student learning throughout the district. After a great fundraising effort, this year the Foundation funded a new projector and screen to be used in the Fulton High School commons for district meetings and the community. FPS had been using four sheets that had been sewn together for the screen. This is a much appreciated upgrade!
Snow Route Information
You can access the snow route information from our website at http://www.fulton58.org/vnews/display.v/ART/51c310d9c8f7c
Here are some additional points on snow routes as we approach the winter season:
- Snow routes will be implemented once the main roads are deemed impassable.
- Snow routes may be needed due to significant accumulation where crews are unable to clear bus turn-arounds, cul-de-sacs, and other treacherous areas.
- Buses may be as much as 15 minutes early or late to any bus stop. Please dress students appropriately for the weather in preparation for longer than normal wait times.
- When snow routes are running, they will run for both AM and PM routes.
- You will receive a call, email, and/or text from FPS regarding school cancelation or the running of snow routes. This information will also be posted on the website at www.fulton58.org, and on the FPS Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Fulton-Public-Schools-298183414812/ and recorded on the school information line--573-590-8014.
- Please log into your Parent Portal if you need to update your email address or phone number to ensure you receive important information from Fulton Public Schools.
