8th grade students, we are excited to celebrate Y-O-U and your time at CMS! Be sure to come to school during your time slot on Thursday or Friday. Please dress in luau attire or just look cute and casually comfortable. We have a couple of surprises for you, and we’ll have a spot for you to take a picture or make a quick video or tik tok for our end-of-year video we are creating in your honor.
We regret that due to the Covid-19 closures, Yearbooks have been delayed by about six weeks. We will notify you as soon as they arrive at CMS. Listed below are some materials you will be able to turn in or pick up as applicable.
Turn in library books, track uniforms, band music, instruments, textbooks, school calculators, and 8th grade ELA novels.
Pick up 7th grade Language Arts binders, 7th grade WWI projects, Artwork, Orchestra folders, items in PE lockers, medications, and lost and found items.
In order to maintain social distancing, we kindly ask that only two family members enter the building through the front entrance.
We collected almost 500 pounds of food and over $100 for We Care during our parade. Thank you for your generosity. We will continue accepting donations for We Care this week for those who didn’t have a chance to contribute during the parade.
It’s time for Proof of Residency. You may submit your child’s Proof of Residence electronically through the following link: Proofs of Residency Form.
Please see our website and social media for more information on these events and all things CMS and remember our theme this year and Be Your Best.

If you are interested in trying out for the Chapin High School Swim Team, please complete this INTEREST FORM and submit it. Rising 7-12 grade students are eligible. Normally we have an interest meeting before the end of the school year, but unfortunately that is not possible this year. We will be sending out information about try-outs and the upcoming season between now and August. You will need a current sports physical and paperwork completed through Arbiter Athlete prior to getting in the pool. If you have any questions, please contact Alison Lloyd alloyd@lexrich5.org.
CMS HAPPY PARADES DURING THE MONTH OF MAY!
We’ve decided to create “CMS Happy Parades” during the month of May for any of our CMS students who have a birthday, a celebration of some sort, or need a pick me up. Simply fill out the CMS Happy Parades Form and we will get in touch with you to organize it. We are also planning a day in the near future for our faculty and staff to be at CMS to allow students to drive through our car line so we can see each other- a Happy Parade in reverse if you will! Thank you for being amazing, for taking care of yourselves, and for taking care of each other. Together, we will get through this difficult time.
CMS students, do you miss DINING WITH OUR DIS, MRS. POWERS? During the month of May, you still can...remotely!! Sign up for her Google Meet through your grade level Google Classroom!
important information for cms parents and students ~ parent permission needed as soon as possible
Thank you to those of you who have already submitted the Google Meet permission form for your child.
In order to allow teachers and students to communicate in a live format, the D5 Technology and Instructional Technology Departments have been working diligently to provide a platform that is safe for both students and teachers. As a Google for Education District, teachers may choose to use Google Meet as we move forward with Distance Learning. All sessions will be recorded and made available for students who are not able to attend. It is recommended that a parent be in the home while these sessions are taking place; however, we understand that may not always be possible. We are glad to be able to provide this platform so that our teachers can be more interactive with students.
In order for your child to participate in these live sessions, we must have parent/guardian permission. Please click HERE to complete the permission form.
If we do not hear back from you, your child will not be able to participate, so please complete and submit this form as soon as possible.
Thank you for all you are doing during this time of learning for us all!
sports physicals
Due to the current health issues associated with COVID-19/Coronavirus, the South Carolina High School League strongly recommends any physicals required for athletic participation for the 2020-21 school year be delayed until after May 1, 2020.
