Covid-19 Has Shown us that Family-School Partnerhsips are Imparative. Dr. Karen Mapp Shares Her Research on Building These Partnerhsips - Check it Out!
Harvard Professor Karen Mapp shares that kids with involved families -
- earn higher grades and test scores;
- enroll in higher-level academic programs;
- are promoted on time and earn more credits
- adapt better to school and attend more regularly;
- have better social skills and behaviors; and
- graduate and go on to post-secondary opportunities.
During this pandemic, I’ve heard and seen several teachers doing whatever they can to reach their students. From parades to motivating signs in yards, teachers have gone the extra mile. How do we hope to continue to build these relationships in the upcoming school year? My hope is that this newsletter can be a place where you are able to find, discuss, and share ideas to advance your family engagement efforts at your school. This letter will come out monthly with ideas from research, the field and your schools.
I am hoping to be out and about to your schools to see and share the great things going on in your buildings. If you have something to share with me please email or call me - jklusty@graniteschools.org or 385-646-4713.
