Excellent Teaching and Learning at Every Moment of Every day for Everyone
Principal's message
Good afternoon!
I loved hearing all of the celebrations yesterday, and I know there were many more left unsaid. We really want focus this year recognizing all of the extraordinary effort and care you give to your students. I hope the 3 ways we have designed (Beck Brilliance, True Blue Award, and Teacher of the Month) let you know how much we appreciate you. You are doing great things with our students and they are on their way to experiencing more success than they previously have had. I encourage you to think outside of the box and take the risks necessary to give our students what they need. Provide learning that challenges them and creates cognitive demand that stretches their thinking in ways they never imagined. We have an abundance of resources such as the ICLE rubrics, Depth and Complexity Framework, and support teachers/coaches to help plan these experiences. Take full advantage of what is available to us!
Let's take care of one another and make it a great week!

Parent Conferences
Parent Conferences are scheduled for Oct. 9th and 10th from 3:30-6:30. This may not be enough time to meet with all parents, so please schedule other times as needed. Conferences should be completed by Oct. 12th. Please do not schedule for Oct. 11th after school as we a have a scheduled Vertical PLC. Please communicate with parents that this is the only scheduled time without a parent request to meet and discuss the progress and goals for their child. Things to think about and keep in mind:
- A conference must be scheduled for all students
- Please include interventionists or SPED teachers if necessary
- Make sure to know each students' strengths, weaknesses, and goals
- Have you thought about having student led conferences?
- Be professional, courteous, and thoughtful about how you communicate
- Refer the handbook for expectations and suggestions for parent communication and conference strategies
- Always start and end with a positive

Campus/District Goals
Campus Goal:
Mastery performance for each grade-level cohort as measured by STAAR will increase by 15%-20% in grades 3-5; K-2 mastery performance will be measured by the EOy goal in DRA2 for ELA . Mastery performance for campus developed EOY math inventory will be at 50% in grades K-2.
Problem of Practice:
Student achievement will improve when learning experiences are routinely differentiated to meet each student's unique needs.
Superintendent's Priority Goals:
1. PK-12 Grade Literacy: NISD will place increase emphasis on literacy across all grade levels and content areas to help ensure that all students are reading on or above grade level.
2. Masters Level Performance: NISD will develop specific target goals for each STAAR/SOC assessment that places an emphasis on students reaching the "Masters" level distinction.
3. College, Career, and Life Readiness: NISD will ensure that every student is progressing toward achieving CCR status, experiencing personalized learning opportunities, and developing social-emotional skills in order to attain their definition of personal success.
4. PBMAS Emphasis: NISD will increase academic success of students within Performance Based Monitoring Analysis System subgroups.
