What is Fraud?

Fraud is intentional inception for gain. Fraud can come in many forms to try to look real and trick people into giving personal information.

What does it look like?

•Phishing and Smishing

-Fake emails or messages trying to get personal information from you

-Emails from what looks like your bank trying to get information from you

-Emails/ Messages from what looks like your friends asking for money or information


•Retail or Auction Fraud

-Buying something online but not getting it.


•Work at Home

-Paying for a kit or components for an "easy" job from home


How to Avoid it

•NEVER reply to emails giving personal information


•Research instructions to things

•Look at customer reviews of something before you buy it

•Think, "Is it too good to be true?"
