MAKING PROGRESS

As employees of Tomball ISD, our goal is for the students we serve to achieve excellence . We return to our classrooms or offices daily and while maintaining a balance between work and home, remain committed to giving 100% of ourselves to our students and colleagues.

At EEA, we are in awe of the amazing efforts our district goes to in an effort to support its employees in obtaining their goal. Our district understands the importance of this center as it serves as a critical foundation for our children and their academic success.

Most recently, our district approved our center's request for an updated playground. But our district leaders stole our hearts when they approved the much needed solar shade to cover the equipment.

The playground equipment has been ordered and should arrive in four to five weeks. Please see picture below of approved layout.

Early Expectations for Learning

Many child development specialists believe that the foundation for learning is built in the first three years of life. Everything we do as teachers, caregivers, and parents is teaching. We all started teaching our children that we loved them. We then taught dependence and moved on to playing with objects, and even showed them how to scoot or crawl for objects. Every time we interact with children, we are teaching them. These top 5 actives lay the groundwork for much early academic success:

  • Reading to our children
  • Sharing your work. Children want to do real work all by themselves. Next time when you are sorting laundry, ask your child to sort socks or towels from the rest of the pile. Count the forks on table or the dishes in the dishwasher. Every little bit counts.
  • Commenting on what you are doing and why. This offers children ideas about connections that will have meaning later.
  • Using cereal boxes, cartons and cans to create fun things with.
  • Holding your child every day. Supporting emotional development is one of the most important things to prepare children for academic progress.
  • Teaching by doing and experimenting, not by telling.

Coffee in the Cafe

Parents, we continue to invite you to join us for "Coffee in the Cafe." Coffee in the Cafe is a designated time devoted to visiting with our families weekly as we continue to grow. Families can build supportive relationships with each other and center staff as they offer feedback regarding EEA. Your feedback will then be used to facilitate our families' needs as well as to develop our center.

Coffee in the Cafe is held each Friday from 3:30 pm to 4:45 in our center's cafeteria. If you are unable to enjoy a cup of coffee with us, please leave us an "EspressNote." EspressNotes can be completed at any time and reviewed by staff on Fridays.

We will keep the coffee pot full for you!
