Be the Best YOU at Grandview!!!
The End of October is Quickly Approaching
As I left Grandview Friday evening, I had the biggest smile on my face. Fall Festival was over and it was a HUGE success! It was a true reflection of the Grandview community. 100% of the event was run by our amazing FOG and volunteers. 100% of the halls were filled with smiling families laughing and having fun with their children. 100% of the event brought families together with their children to make memories. The FOG board thought this Fall Festival had the best turn-out. So thank you to all of you for the time and effort you took out of your hectic schedule to make the Fall Festival a success! If you see a FOG member, be sure to tell them thank you for a job well-done! It was a flawless event!
Additionally, by now you should have received a conference sign-up sheet from your child's classroom teacher for Tuesday, November 6th, for conferences. Teachers will meet with ALL of you in the fall. It is so important that attendance is upheld because the goal of conferences is to form a partnership in education between the parent and the students. If you cannot do the 6th, then reach out to the teacher for another date and time. Please take advantage of this important event. In the lobby of conferences, will be our annual on-line survey. Please be sure to stop by one of the computer kiosks to ensure that your voice is heard. With your teacher, report cards, fall NWEA, parent compact, among other materials will be shared.
Thank you for being involved with your children's education. We appreciate and value the partnership!!!

Kroger and Grandview
We now have a Partnership with Kroger. If you add Grandview to your Kroger Rewards account, Grandview will receive a % of what you spend. The directions are below. It is so easy to do it. I did it and it took less than five minutes.
Congratulations on your enrollment into the Kroger Community Rewards Program. Your participants may begin enrolling upon receipt of this email.
You have been assigned a new NPO (Non-Profit Organization) number TH003.
Please refer to this number in all future correspondence.
To Use the Kroger Community Rewards Program:
Simply encourage your participants to visit http://www.kroger.com. Once logged into their Kroger account they can search for Friends of Grandview either by name or TH003 and then click Enroll. New users will need to create an account which requires some basic information, a valid email address and a rewards card.
*Customers must have a registered Kroger rewards card account to link to your organization.
*If a member does not yet have a Kroger rewards card, please let them know they are available at the customer service desk at any Kroger
REMEMBER, purchases will not count for your organization until after your participants register their rewards card.
Participants must swipe their registered Kroger rewards card or use the phone number that is related to their registered Kroger rewards card when shopping for each purchase to count.
Thank you!

Bookflix for Grandview Families
The Michigan eLibrary did not renew their subscription to Bookflix. We found great value in this site for our children. Therefore, Grandview purchased a school subscription that allows teachers and students to use the following username and password to access Bookflix at home and at school. Please feel free to use this at home. The link is as follows.....
https://digital.scholastic.com/site/launch/bkflix?ucn=600063987
There is a link on the Library symbaloo and will be putting a link under the student links on the Clarenceville website.
Username: grandvw
Password: flix
If you click on the apple and book in the top right corner, it takes you to a Resources and Tools page where you can search for books, search by themes, running times and grade levels.
This is another way to engage your students with their learning at home.
Enjoy!!!

Student Council Friday's have one more week. Students can participate in these fun days by donating $1. Money is for the Holidays and families in need. These days and money are a huge part of the Holiday time shopping we do for our Grandview Families. We have helped over 50 families last year.
October 26th: Stuffed Animal Day
Pink Out Store
Team Gibson/Terpack still have the Pink Out Store opened. Suckers and other items will be sold to raise money for Karmanos Cancer Center. The store will be set up in the main hallway by the office and will be student run. This store will be starting on Tuesday.
Digital Citzenship
When you enrolled your child in Clarenceville, you signed an electronic information policy. By signing this, you agreed to the following. Grandview Elementary will be enforcing this policy. Please remind your child of the importance of digital citizenship and making great electronic choices at school, both in the classroom and during library and info tech class.
Electronic Information Policy- The District expects the staff and students to conform to ethical and legal standards in the use of technology/email and to demonstrate knowledge and responsibility in the use of resources, processes and systems of technology.
Students watching Youtube videos that show and talk about drinking, violence, guns, drugs, sex and abusing women is unethical, and therefore is in clear violation of their contract they agreed to when they signed the technology policy. Per school board policy 7540.03:
Users who disregard this policy and its accompanying guidelines may have their use privileges suspended or revoked, and disciplinary action taken against them.
Because of this students who violate Electronic Information Policy will lose their computer privileges according to the following system:
1.) Verbal warning and forced closure of the inappropriate program
2.)Loss of computer privileges for the day and a note home
3.)Loss of computer privileges for two class sessions and a call home
Family in Need Assistance
In the office are applications and envelopes for "families in need" to complete for help around the holidays and for other resources. We want to help you and provide assistance to you and to your family. If you are unable to get to the office, please contact the office, myself, or the classroom teachers and we will send the application home with your child. This is for families that live in Farmington, Livonia or Redford.
Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts
Meetings are underway for both of these great organizations. Girl Scouts will be meeting on Wednesdays and Boy Scouts will be meeting on Mondays at 6:30. Come join the fun!
Transportation Changes
Do not rely on just the office for transportation changes. It is important that you also put it in writing in an email to the teacher. If you alert the teacher and the office, chances are better that the message is delivered accurately. We have so many transportation changes at the end of the day that makes us uneasy that a mistake could occur. Please do not make a change after 3:00!!
