Trials for Sportshall Athletics Team

North Yorkshire are holding trials for a Year 5/6 sportshall athletics team, which will take place in Harrogate on Saturday 27 November, or York on Sunday 12 December. Further details for anyone interested can be obtained from the office.

Our children have been inspired by COP26 and have thought of lots of ways we can be more environmentally friendly. They have noticed that some parents are waiting in their car with the engine idling, and this is increasing pollution. They would like to request that you please try to switch off your engine if you are stationary. Thank you.

Learning Reviews

Thank you for attending the virtual Learning Reviews. If you were unable to make the appointment for any reason, it is extremely important that you arrange to meet with your child’s teacher. This can be arranged through the office. The next Learning Review meetings will take place during a school closure day on Wednesday 9th March 2022.

Children in Need - 19/11/21

Children In Need is back for 2021 and, here at Saxton, we will be getting involved as usual. This year, we are hosting a ‘Fancy Dress Friday’ and ask children to pay a minimum donation of £1 to take part. Please make your donation via this link:

Whether it’s a favourite book character, actor, musician, dancer or even just wearing some cute Pudsey ears… anything goes! We will be spreading the message that together, we can have fun and change lives in every corner of the UK. Please help us to support this wonderful cause and have fun at the same time.

Bag to School

On Wednesday 1st December we will be taking part in 'Bag to School' to raise much needed funds for FOSS. Bag 2 School is a company that specialises in the reuse and recycling of good quality second-hand clothing. So bag up your donations and please bring into school before 9am on Wednesday 1st December. Please do not bring your bags before 1st December as we do not have space to store them in school.

National Sleep Helpline - Free Service

One in four children in the UK are not getting enough sleep, this has an impact on their behaviour and ability to learn, as well as their physical health.

Our free helpline is run by trained sleep advisors who can talk to young people directly, or parents (we can also talk to parents about their own sleep issues).

The helpline is open 5 nights a week, Sunday to Thursday, 7-9pm and the number is 03303 530 541.

Christmas Dinner

The Christmas Dinner will be on Friday 10th December.

Thank you for those that have already made their choice. If you haven't yet, please book your child's preference by Wednesday 17th November:

School Lunches

Please see the Autumn Lunch menu below. Next week we will be on Week 1 of the menu.

Children can decide daily whether they are having a school dinner or packed lunch.

Please ensure you discuss the menu each day with your child so they can decide what they would like to order. Once they know their choices, they will choose this each morning with their teacher during registration.

Each day there are now 4 choices, either the hot dinner, hot vegetarian option, jacket potato with a choice of toppings or a sandwich. The sandwich and jacket potato always come with a selection of vegetables/salad on the side and have the full pudding choice for that day.

Autumn 2021 Lunch Menu

From 8th September - 18th December 2021. This is our new menu for September - children now have a vegetarian option to choose from as well as a jacket potato or a sandwich.
