Stone Bank School
Reaching Out ~ April 27, 2018
From Mrs. Davies
April is nearly finished and we are finally seeing signs of Spring. It has been a busy month for our students at Stone Bank. Students in grades three through eight are finishing up the Wisconsin Forward Exam. Our fifth and eighth grade students explored Discovery World together, kindergartners went to the planetarium and our seventh graders went to Camp Whitcomb. Lots of fun learning activities!
At the end of the school year we will say good-bye to two of our staff members. Mrs. Laforge will be retiring after 27 years teaching at Stone Bank. We will also say, "goodbye for now", to Mr. Mattson who will take a one year leave of absence. Mr. Mattson will pursue a dream of establishing a non-profit organization called "Coaching Kids". Both teachers will be greatly missed by our staff and students. We wish them both the very best!
A year-long replacement will be hired to cover Mr. Mattson's leave of absence. Mrs. Leonard will teach first grade next year. Once we have a replacement for our third grade vacancy we will share that information with you.
When our students leave for their summer break, our teachers put on their learning caps! This summer the teachers will participate in professional development focused on Personalized Learning/Differentiation, Math and Writer's Workshop. In the fall, we will hold a curriculum night for our parents to learn more about these topics.
Looking ahead to August: Reading benchmark assessments will be held the week of August 20th. More information and a signup genius will be shared in early July. Open House will be held on August 30th from 4-6pm.
Enjoy the spring weather,
Mrs. Davies

2nd Annual SBS Fest
On Tuesday, June 5th, we will celebrate the end of another successful school year with our 2nd Annual SBS Fest!
Mission Statement: A fun Stone Bank event that promotes unity, builds community and celebrates the completion of the school year.
SBS Fest will be an event where students travel with their team to activity stations including Field Day Games, Relay/Olympic Games, Indoor Carnival and Outdoor Carnival. Students will need to bring a snack, a water bottle and cold lunch (labeled with student name) or order one through school.
We are looking for 5K-7th grade parent volunteers to help with the day’s activities. Please use this link to sign-up: https://goo.gl/forms/QPz1AUFvOYVr3InS2
We will also be seeking donations/usage of sport wagons, 5-gallon water dispensers, ad shade tents for the day.
SBS Student Council will sell tickets for carnival game and crafts.
We are excited about SBS Fest and look forward to celebrating with the whole SBS community! Please keep an eye out for more information.
