Ms. Mooney 6th Grade School Counselor

Welcome to 6th Grade! The 6th grade students have been very busy learning how to open their lockers, where their classes are, and staying organized. They are getting to know their new teachers and classes. They have started getting homework and doing presentations. 6th grade homework is posted every night on the 6th grade website.

I have posted announcements on my website of upcoming events. We have already had our first middle school dance which was a huge success. The middle school will be having dances throughout the year. We have had our first Wingman Assembly of the year with Eddie Speaks. The students and staff really enjoyed it. The 6th grade team will send information home for any upcoming field trips. The middle school’s open house is on Thursday, 9/22 from 6-8:30.

The middle school offers many clubs such as Broadcast Journalism Club, Yearbook Club, Chorus, Gamer’s Club, Homework Club, etc. Most of them will start towards the end of the month and will be posted on the website. Homework Club starts on Monday, 9/26 after school. Homework Club is a great club that is open to all 6-8th graders. It meets on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays after school from 2:45-4:00. Students have a quiet place to work at school with a 6th grade teacher there if they get stuck on a problem. They can take a late bus home or get picked up from a parent.

I have started working with the 6th graders on the Naviance Program. This is an online program that students in grades 6-12 work on to explore careers and take interest surveys. I hope to see all of you at our open house. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me by email or call me at (203) 312-5892.
