"Let's dare to be ourselves, for we do that better than anyone else can." - Shirley Briggs
With Appreciation:
Our team is amazing. Thank you.
Quick Reminders
- The Fire Marshal visit will be reschedule - we don't have a new date (yet).
- As we get past report cards and parent meetings, take some time to review your classroom/grade level website and be sure it is up to date.
- The 41st annual Christmas Basket Food Drive has started and runs through 11/30! All food collected stays in Lincoln and Sheridan to benefit local families.
- Please take a look at the master calendar for info about awards assemblies and winter performance assemblies - December will be a busy month!
What if a child makes a self harming statement?
If a child says or writes something suggesting that he/she is thinking of self harming, or if a peer tells you a friend said something to them, please get Jen and Kristen involved right away. Our next steps:
- we will have a 'threat assessment' conversation to be sure the child is okay; you may participate in that conversation if it makes sense; these conversations are very explicit and direct
- we follow up with parents; even if the child says it was a 'joke' or we don't think the threat is real, as that's an opportunity for important family dialogue
- if there is a real concern, we will be in touch with Desi ASAP and potentially with our district mental health specialist to provide support and establish next best steps
PBIS Update
Kristen and I have enjoyed the chance to connect with some of our students in grades 2, 3 and 5 who earned referrals this month - we've been focusing less on the choices we made and more on what we can do gong forward. We've been reviewing the idea of bucketfilling and bucket dipping. Grades K, 1 and 4 - let us know when you plan your 'no referral celebration" and if you need us to work with your non-participants!
