BHCS Charter Chatter
Welcome Back Wildcats!
We are so excited to be back in school! These first few weeks have been an adjustment for students, parents, teachers, and all of our staff members. We feel our procedures for face to face learning have been going smoothly. We appreciate everyone's continued support in making sure we adhere to all of the guidelines put in place in regards to COVID-19 so that we can continue to provide face to face instruction.
School-wide we are "easing" into remote and blended learning to make sure that students and families are comfortable, as well as making sure teachers are able to use our Learning Management Systems (SeeSaw or Google Classroom) to best meet the needs of their students. Each week we are trying to incorporate another layer of synchronous and asynchronous learning to work at a manageable level of learning both at home and at school.
Please remember students have been away from school over 5 months, and even now this is not the traditional routine they are accustomed to. We are making sure that students have time to review previous concepts, and can comfortably navigate through their Learning Management System (SeeSaw or Google Classroom) in order to learn and master new skills and concepts.
We can not thank our families enough for all the work they are doing for Remote Learning! As we continue to navigate through this "new normal" we ask for continued patience, open lines and communication, and a top priority for student success!
Wildcats Know the Three W's!!!
Fall Picture Day
Students who are full remote can call or email the office (firstname.lastname@example.org) to schedule an appointment anytime from 12:00 - 3:00 on those days. Students will be screened before entering the auditorium.
**Keep in mind, fall pictures are used for the school yearbook, so we hope you all can make it!**
Remote Student's Packet Pick-up Days
8:30am-2:30pm & 3:10pm-6:00pm.
A Note from Specials...
Hybrid students who come to school face-to-face on Monday/Tuesday or Thursday/Friday will have a Specials time on those face-to-face days. These students do NOT need to access the SeeSaw or Google Classroom accounts because they are provided with activities during their face-to-face time at school each week.
BHCS is a Title I School... What does that mean?
Title I is a federally funded program that is one component of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015. Title 1 is intended to help ensure that all students have the opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach proficiency on challenging state academic achievement standards and assessments. Our school-wide program is based on effective means of improving student achievement and includes strategies to support family engagement.
Schools in which children from low-income families make up at least 40 percent of enrollment are eligible to use Title I funds to operate schoolwide programs that serve all children in the school in order to raise the achievement of the lowest-achieving students. At BHCS, the Title 1 funds are being used in the 2020-21 academic year to fund personnel associated with our technology and the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) initiatives.
Any questions concerning Title I funding should be addressed to Harriett Tillett, Student Support Services director at Harriett.email@example.com or to Jessica Poole, Principal at Jessica.firstname.lastname@example.org.
