Your WestWood PTC Update

November/December 2018

Our annual Readathon Fundraiser BLASTED TO SUCCESS!!

TAKE ME TO YOUR READERS! The PTC is SO excited that we were able to partner with you, our strongest supporters, for our LARGEST fundraiser of the year! It allows us to focus on something important like READING instead of selling things, while raising money for the many programs the PTC supports. We had great prizes, a pizza party for top pledge earners, and we celebrated with some silly fun! (Pie in the face, anyone?!) Shout-out to our Readathon committee for all of their hard work - thank you! Thank you to anyone brave enough to be taped to a wall or get that pie in the face too!

In addition to our usual PTC-supported programs, we were also able to purchase new microscopes! Happy scientific observations! We are also working to bring more flexible seating options into WestWood.

THANK YOU ~ THANK YOU ~ THANK YOU for supporting the WestWood PTC so we can support the students and staff at WestWood Elementary!

Now Planning Family Fun Night!

We still have months before our annual Family Fun Night Carnival, scheduled for Friday, February 22nd, 2019. That means we are starting to plan the fun! Please contact us if you have ideas to share and would like to be a part of the committees for Food, Games, Silent Auction, and Overall! Volunteer opportunities will also be available the night of the event during all of the fun!

Seeking Basket Donations!

As part of Family Fun Night, the PTC hosts a Silent Auction. We are looking for baskets, bins, containers and decorative boxes to display our items. We will happily accept any you may already have or may collect over the holidays! Please drop them off at the WestWood office at your convenience. Thank you!

Kindness in Chalk

Kindness in Chalk brought smiles to many faces as they started their day. Thanks to Amy Crespo for organizing and to everyone who helped!

FOR SALE: New Spiritwear Options

WestWood T-shirts & Spiritwear is now available through our online partner, Jostens. You can customize many types of apparel, hats, bags, and more. Prior Lake apparel also available! Place your order online and purchases will be delivered directly to you.

Enjoy your winter break! We will see you in 2019!

Art Adventure Update

Grades 3-5: "Picture People" are school volunteers that go to the museum (Minneapolis Institute of Art) for training and then go into classrooms to facilitate conversation and learning about specific pieces of art/history. Very few volunteer opportunities allow you to interact and lead in this way - and it is FUN! Schedules are worked out with the classroom teacher.

This year's topic is Egypt's Sunken Cities. THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR CLASSROOM VOLUNTEERS! And thank you Randie Berg for coordinating this year!

Bravo Music Appreciation Update

Grades K-2: Volunteers attend a training (hosted by Schmitt Music) and receive materials needed to then teach lessons about music - composers, instruments, musicians, etc. The students enjoy having a new face to learn from and discuss music topics. Often times a little project or activity is included - a fun way to interact with your child and friends! Schedules are worked out with the classroom teacher. THANK YOU TO ALL OF OUR CLASSROOM VOLUNTEERS! You are vital to this awesome program!
