Youth Leadership Athens
We are excited to announce that applications are open for the 2023 Youth Leadership Athens class. YLA is a premiere leadership organization that focuses on guiding high school sophomores and juniors as they develop and enhance their leadership skills, network with community leaders and peers, and develop a sense of community in the Athens area.
Applications along with the session outlines and more are available at youthleadershipathens.com We are accepting applications now through November 30th and hope to announce the class in mid-December.

Jaguar Photography on Display
Yearbook staff members all recently submitted photographs and artist statements to be displayed at the "Athens through our Eyes" exhibit at the Georgia Museum of Art. Their work will be printed and matted by the museum, and it will be on view at the museum's Education Center in a special photo display from November 12 to November 30, 2022. Congratulations to the following students: Kylie Toney, Megan Jackson, Haydee Vilchiz-Alvear, Deylin Vilchiz Alvear, Jacqueline Medina, Austin Chang, Joseph Aviles, Andrew Chang, Tyler Brasher, Mackinley Vick, Jacquelyn Rodriguez, Joselin Pompa, and Azorion Harper
An opening reception will kick off the photo exhibition this Saturday, November 12, from 10 a.m. to noon, during UGA’s Spotlight on the Arts Family Day. PBIS At Cedar Shoals
Cedar Shoals is in the process of implementing PBIS- Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports. It is the goal of the PBIS team to improve the culture and climate here at Cedar as
well as to empower the lives of our students and staff! PBIS will be used schoolwide to improve school safety and promote positive behavior at Cedar Shoals High School. Our mission with PBIS is for everyone to know the appropriate behaviors to display throughout the school day, in the classroom, at lunch, and on the buses.
FFE Classroom Grant Recipients
Coach Campbell wins FFE Award
Our very own Mr. Josh Campbell is the recipient of the Foundation for Excellence's 2022 Michael Peter Horvat Secondary Coaches' Award. The Michael Peter Horvat Secondary Coaches’ Award is presented each year to a Clarke County School District employee who serves as a coach on one or more sports teams at the middle and/or high school level. The nominee should be an individual who inspires and motivates student athletes to excel and who promotes the values of teamwork and sacrifice that Michael modeled. Congratulations, Mr. Campbell!
Seniors: Complete your fafsa!
After School Cooking Class
FFA members took part in an after-school cooking class. Mrs. Throne demonstrated and had students help make homemade macaroni and cheese and a salad. The students enjoyed eating what they made and look forward to the next after-school cooking class in November. The menu will include Pennsylvania-Dutch Chicken Pot Pie. Performing and Visual Arts Scholarship Applications are available now!
Performing arts and visual arts scholarships are open to 9th through 12th-grade high school students living in the Northeast Georgia region. Students who live in Athens-Clarke County are eligible for The Classic Center Cultural Foundation’s performing arts and visual arts scholarships: Apply Now!
Recipients awarded the performing arts and visual arts scholarships will receive $2,000 and their high school program will be presented $500. The deadline to apply for the performing arts and visual arts scholarship is March 3, 2023.

CLear bag policy
CSHS will implement a clear bag policy at all sporting events. This policy will be similar to policies in place at college and professional stadiums and coliseums. There will be no entrance into sporting events without a clear bag. The following types of bags are permitted inside of CSHS sporting events: Bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12”x6”x12”, one-gallon clear plastic freezer bags, small clutch bags, with or without a handle or strap, that do not exceed 4.5”x6.5” Please see the graphic attached for examples of approved and prohibited bags.
