Midterm Letter
Here is a link to the letter than I'm sending today that goes with our last midterm report card. A paper copy is coming home as well- I didn't send it Wednesday because we were told midterms were being sent on Friday. The good news is that all of my grades were complete on Wednesday, so if you checked midterms what you saw was up to date. So sorry for all the confusion with report cards this year.

Field Trip May 3
Field trip permission slips are due soon. Please send your permission slip and money if you haven't already done so. Also, everyone will need a lunch from home on that day. The kids are in charge of their own lunch on the bus. We do not take coolers or boxes to store them in on the way. We will be eating on the bus on the way home. Here are some guidelines to help us be as neat as possible while eating on a moving bus!
Sack Lunch Guidelines:
For the Children's Museum Trip on May 3rd , Please don’t send pizza or nacho Lunchables (any other Lunchable is fine-, it is just that building a meal with sauce/ salsa + a moving bus = disaster!).
Please send a drink that can be closed - water/ Gatorade/ juice are fine. No pop please! Thank you!
Coats Needed
Please continue to send a coat with your child. Morning recess is still quite chilly and we want everyone to be dressed safely for the temperature.
If you’d like to sit with your child at lunch we’d love to have you. Lunch begins at 11:47 a.m. If you wish to eat the school lunch, please call the office to order a tray.

Those who have not finished subtraction should be bringing homework home nightly to practice. With only 6 weeks left I'm concerned that we're going to run out of days for them to pass their levels and 100 facts in 5 minutes.
Goals for Subtraction Facts

Level Z by May 22
Once a student reaches Level Z and can do at least 95 out of 100 subtraction problems in 5 minutes they move to multiplication facts.

Homework Helps and Hints
"The Dip"
This is a video series from Class Dojo about handling difficult tasks. This has been a struggle around here lately- when things have typically been easy at school and then a difficult task arises, many times students do not know how to deal with the situation. In the video series, "the dip" is when you are asked to do something that you haven't done before, aren't good at, or don't like. They gave strategies for coping with this type of problem. I've seen a few really upset that they don't know answers at different times during this year. We have been talking about WHY they have to do things that they aren't "comfortable" with- because it makes you SMARTER! Also, we've been talking about how you can't always be "perfect" at everything- meaning you can't always get an A+ because you are 8 and you don't know everything, yet!!
