Mashburn Elementary - March 2022

Big picture

Dear Mashburn Families,

YAY!! Spring is just around the corner! March is a month full of different events sponsored by school and PTO. Along with March events, I have a few things I want to mention.

Read-A-Thon - Thanks for supporting our Read-a-thon. We made over $3,500 for our school because our students committed to reading outside of school!

FCS Teacher of the Year - Congratulations to Mrs. Patti Phillips for being one of the seven finalists for the honor. She will be recognized at the district celebration next Thursday, March 10. We appreciate all of her hard work and dedication to the students at our school.

Morning Carline - Thanks so much for your help with the morning car line. It seems to be running much more efficiently! We would love to have volunteers help us with opening car doors and greeting students in the mornings. If you are interested, please use the Sign Up Genius link, MES Car Rider Parent Sign-Up.

Dual Language Immersion (DLI) Parent Night - On March 16 at 6:00 PM in our school cafeteria, we will have an informational meeting for parents interested in their kindergarten student being a part of this program. Dual Language Immersion is a form of education where students are taught academic content and literacy in two different languages. There will be general program information, parent testimonials, and videos from our current kindergarten and first grade classes. Here is the link for more information about Forsyth County Schools-DLI.

Duck Dive for Education - Please consider adopting a duck for $10 each to become a Quacker Backer. With this $10 purchase, you are supporting educational grant opportunities for teachers and putting yourself in a drawing to win $10,000! Here is a video with information about the Duck Dive for Education and Duck Dive for Education Adopt-a-Duck Form. The adoption deadline is March 25.

Heart of Forsyth - We are so excited to invite all of our Mashburn Families to the Heart of Forsyth Community Event. This festival will take place on March 24th at FCHS from 6:00-8:00pm. There will be food trucks, games, inflatables and pathway booths. This will be a great opportunity for families to learn about the amazing pathways FCHS has to offer. The Mashburn chorus will also be performing at 6:30pm. We look forward to seeing all of our families at this incredible event.

Ukraine/Russia Resources - If you feel the need to talk with your children about the situation with Ukraine & Russia, here are some links with age/grade appropriate supports.

As always, thanks for everything you do to support our school! Please reach out if you have

any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,

Fonda Harrison

Interim Principal

A Message From Nurse Chason

Hello Mashburn Parents,

I hope everyone is staying healthy and doing well. Please remember to also notify the school if your child has been exposed in the home to others who have tested positive for COVID. Also fill out COVID form linked under Quick LInks on our website & linked below if your child tests positive for COVID.

COVID-19 Positive Reporting Form

If you have questions related to these forms or cannot find them please email or call and let me know. If medication needs to be administered to your child during the school day, I will need your signature and a doctors signature, if prescription medication, and we will also need a care plan. If it is medication that is given on an as needed basis, I will only need your signature. Only exception for a care plan that is not needed, are antibiotics. You must bring these medications to my clinic during school hours and not place them in your child’s book bag to be delivered to me. Thanks for your assistance- I want to be able to give the best care I can to your child but I will need to have the necessary forms and medication to do so.

Thanks so much!

Nurse Missy
