The Sachem Memo
Week of March 23 - 27, 2020
Remain StaffSTRONG
I hope this note finds you well and coming off a good weekend with your family and remaining safe and healthy. I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your amazing engagement and mobilization with our Extended Learning Page, which launched on Friday, March 20, 2020. It was an incredible week of working to completely change how we teach and how students learn within hours and days. I am beyond grateful to each of you for committing to make our Extended Learning Page robust and comprehensive for all of our students.
We know that our move to an on-line engagement will have some challenges. I appreciate your patience with your students during this time. Within all of our homes we are adjusting to a new routine, schedule and norm. We will work with each student and meet them where they are at currently. Through the Temperature Check that I did last week with the students...many of them are providing child care for siblings and neighbors during this time. I know you will continue to find ways to engage your students over the next week and beyond.
I truly hope you are taking the time for you and your family and staying healthy and safe. I am trying to be mindful of my own self-care, which I hope you are doing the same. I have cleaned every closet in my home, which that alone is settling into a new routine. :) Additionally, I am taking a long walk each day keeping in mind my social distancing but getting some fresh air and exercise. We must be engaged with each other and know that I will be here for whatever you need.
Hang in there, my friends. Here are a few items for this week.

New School Updates
- We will begin the important FF&E Process virtually through meetings that will begin this week with our Architects and FF&E Consultants. This is where we will begin to engage the furniture and other aspects for the new school. Emails were sent last week to those who will be involved in these meetings. More to come here!
- I am working on trying to get virtual presentations shared with me of the new high school. I If I can get them from our architectural team...I will be sending it along to you. It will truly bring a smile to your face when you see the conceptual designs of the hallways and common areas.
- I had a chance to tour inside the new school on Tuesday morning. It is coming along and sheet rock is up in many places. Just amazing! Also, I had a chance to climb the bleachers and lookout over the stadium. What a place our new facility will be for our students and community.
