We hope everyone had a great first week back at school! It was so nice to see everyone and hear about what they did over break. A LOT OF THEM GREW TALLER!!! Your children are a blessing!

Honors Band This Week: Region 31 Scales. Blue Book: Page 3, 4, 6, 30, 31. Fire Ball, Sailors Odyssey and St. Petersburg March (UIL Contest pieces). Ensemble Contest Music. 8th Graders: All 12 Major Scales, Full Range Chromatic Scale.

Beginner Band This Week: Rhythm Rainbow Exercise Packet. Beginner Book, pgs. 1-20. Scale Sheets. Chromatic Scale, F, Ab, Bb Study, Fingering Chart, Studies & Exercises. Magic 7. Circle of 5ths Chant. Ensemble Contest Music.

Upcoming Spring Semester Events
Friday, February 3rd: Pep Rally, Honors & Symphonic Band students only, GMS Gym, 2:35 p.m. Wear GMS BAND SHIRT. Fight Song and Land of 1000 Dances.
Saturday, February 25th: GCISD Solo and Ensemble Contest, CHHS, 8-12 p.m. ALL BANDS, 6TH, 7TH, 8TH GRADE. Percussionists will be at Grapevine High School. Everyone else will be at Colleyville-Heritage High School. If you have a TIME CONFLICT, please submit them by Friday, January 20th. Students will be given a specific performance time. The entire process will approximately be no longer than 60 minutes. Attire: Dress NICE. No t-shirts, jeans, shorts, sweatshirts, hoodies.
Thursday, March 2nd: GHS Percussion Bash, GHS, 7:00 p.m. All Percussion Students. More details to follow.
Saturday, March 4th: 8th Grade Auditions at Prospective High Schools (CHHS and GHS), 8-4 p.m. More details to follow.
Friday, March 24th: GCISD MS Pre-UIL Benchmark Contest, 9-1:30 p.m. Honors Band Only. More details to follow. Attire: Black Concert Uniform. Interested in volunteering? We will need help hauling equipment. Please contact Mrs. Gish at jennifer.gish@gcisd.net.
Monday, April 17th: Pride of Texas Music Festival, 8-5 p.m. Specific times will be released once we receive confirmation from Festival Personnel. Honors Band & Symphonic Band Only. Friday, April 28th: Sandy Lake Music Fun Fest, Specific times will be released once we receive confirmation from Festival Personnel. Students will return to school by 2:15 p.m. Beginner Band Only. No t-shirts, jeans, shorts, sweatshirts, hoodies. Honors, Symphonic, Concert Band Attire: Black Concert Uniform. More details to follow. Interested in volunteering?
