We have received several questions regarding clothing for the 8th grade Silver Dollar City trip on April 29 and Graduation on May 3. School rules apply to all school functions. Spaghetti straps or muscle shirts will not be allowed for either of these functions.

For Graduation, nice, clean clothes would be fine. The students will be wearing a gown over their clothes during the ceremony, so there is really no need to spend a great deal of money for something that is going to be covered. Please do not wear hoodies under the gowns because they are too bulky. We strongly suggest flat shoes with heel straps, as it is difficult for students this age to manage heals and/or flip flops when walking up and down the stage steps. Please remember students will also be wearing a cap, which is difficult to keep on with large curls or “updos.” There is no party or dance at the school after graduation, so there is no need to be over-dressed. Most students wear dark jeans or nice pants with a dress shirt or a simple dress.

We will be discussing with the students closer to trip time regarding the weather and appropriate attire for Silver Dollar City.

Please observe school dress code for both of these functions. If you have any questions, please call 417-256-5239.

High School Transition Meetings

As the end of the year is approaching, our 8th grade students will begin looking at their different high school options as they continue their education. School choices include Bakersfield, Dora, Koshkonong, West Plains, and Willow Springs. Mrs. Gastineau will begin talking with 8th grade students to get the enrollment forms and information filled out for the school of choice. If you are interested in setting up a meeting to fill out the paperwork and to learn a little more about each district please reach out to Mrs. Gastineau at 417-256-5239, ext. 109, email: cgastineau@richardsschool.k12.mo.us or Tiffanie Bryant at 417-256-5239, ext. 107, email: tbryant@richardsschool.k12.mo.us
