Dear Parents and Carers,
As we settle back into school routines and are mixing more it is clear that Covid is still with us. We have had a few children in a mix of classes test positive this week and therefore it is still very important that you are monitoring your children for signs of illness. The classes involved have been notified. The main symptoms we are seeing are headaches and eyes sensitive to the light rather than the official symptoms of a temperature, a continuous cough or loss of taste or smell. Lateral flow tests are available free of charge online or from local distributors and are a good way of checking routinely for those who may be asymptomatic. I am, of course, following all the current guidelines for reporting cases and if your child is deemed a close contact by NHS Test and Trace then they will be in contact with you directly. Finally, please remember to stay distanced where possible on the school site and to keep your children beside you in order to protect others.
In brighter news, the body of our MUGA is now complete and the children have enjoyed playing football and basketball in it. The court lines will be painted on shortly.
We have had a marvellous response to the after school clubs that will start to run again from next week. It will be great to provide such a variety of before and after school extra-curricular activities with so many children involved.
Just a couple of notices this week -
First, there will be a children's art exhibition in school next week and a chance for you to visit your child's class informally at the end of the day. More details below...
Second, could I please ask parents not to gather at the school entrance, gate and front fence as this is causing a blockage at busy times. Our school is growing and we have added a whole extra class more pupils than we had 3 years ago so there are more people collecting and dropping off.
Finally, I am very sad that the Friends of Kirk Fenton were not able to reform a new committee this week and therefore will have to fold. This is a huge shame as they do such an amazing job of fund raising for the school and means that many of the traditional school events will not now go ahead. If you can help in any way, please do get in touch.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs Karen Williams

Open Classroom, Friday 24th September
On Friday 24th September, we would like to invite you into your child's classroom at the end of the day to enjoy the work they have been doing to represent their class animal. This year, all our classes are named after keystone species, inspired by the new book 'The Most Important Animal of All' and we have been busy in the first few weeks creating artwork and investigating our animals. Doors will open at 2:40pm for you to come in, have a browse and you may then take your child home. If you have children in more than one class, please start with younger children who can then be taken into their older siblings' rooms.
Windows and doors will be open for ventilation and you may choose to wear a mask. If classrooms become busy, we will ask parents to wait outside to manage the flow. For parents unable to attend, normal going home arrangements will apply.

North Yorkshire Music Service
Dear Parent(s) / Guardian(s)
We are anticipating that all* music lessons should be possible in school premises on a face to face basis from September 2021 in line with Government recommendations. Should a school close as a result of a Covid19 outbreak, or are still operating Bubbles meaning that Face to Face lessons are not possible, we will move to online lessons, if possible, via Teams.
Instrumental lesson will commence week commencing 13th September 2021.
* Unless arrangements have been made with you direct to continue lessons online
Attached are the revised tuition and Music Centre fees applicable from September as well as remissions; details of tuition dates; and a reminder of the notice period to stop lessons.
Please do not hesitate to contact me if you should have any queries.;
