WELCOME!

Welcome back to the winter edition of Wang School Student News! If you'd like to submit something, but cannot attend after school just let me know. We're always looking for new writers and amazing stories. You can submit a piece of work you are proud of, a math problem that you solved, a riddle, a funny story about a friend or teacher, a rant about something that is bothering you, whatever you want. If it's school appropriate, we want to read it. You can submit to Mrs. Doole at rdoole@lowell.k12.ma.us or you can submit something HERE

Where in the Wang?

Somewhere in the school the subject of this picture lies. Find it first and win a prize. The first person to guess where this picture is will win a $2 gift certificate to the school store on Tuesdays.

Congratulations to Juliana Marion who correctly guessed that last week's image was in the hallway by the staircase.

Library Corner

Ms. Williams, Library Teacher

Our library is undergoing some renovations right now! We are getting new tile carpet throughout the library. We are hoping that we will be able to resume checkouts by Monday, once the carpet is placed in Ms. Williams’ classroom, Ms. Princi’s classroom, Mrs. Collins’ office, and the main library itself. It will be a new reset for this space as some of the VIP seating will be able to return as well as some BRAND NEW MYSTERY seating!

Thank you to all the after school classes that helped move supplies and materials out so the workers could begin this week. Our school appreciates you!

Ms. Williams is making a new library book checkout schedule for next week so all classes will be able to return, renew, and check out new books, and then library classes will resume with our ELA and ELL classrooms. Stay tuned!

Student Spotliglht

Is there someone you know who you think the whole school should know about too? Recommend them for our weekly Student Spotlight. Each week we're looking to highlight one student who represents the values of the Wang. Maybe they helped. you in Math class or offered you a shoulder to cry on when you were feeling down. Perhaps this person makes everyone laugh or just puts their needs behind everyone else's all the time. Whatever the reason, we want to know them. Click the button and put your recommendation in. The Newsletter staff will choose one person each week.

Should We Change the Pledge of Allegiance?

by Jadon DesRochers

I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

That is the original pledge of allegiance and the better one. But what's different? The “under God” part is gone. The new one has “under God’ and that stuff, but it's really annoying because it goes against my religion. And most people in middle school probably are not even part of a religion. Which is why the original should be used and then maybe I will say it in the morning. The “under God” part was added 1954 by president Eisenhower. And the very original was. “I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands, one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. Interesting.
