LEARN

Student Data

As teams you have been entering in information in the online spreadsheet and tracking iReady and MAP data. As grade teams, we will start to review our progress towards our team goals and make adjustments as a team. Additionally, we will be visiting classrooms more frequently.

During up coming team meetings, we will share small group "look fors" to help each of you see what we are tracking as a school. We will explain this in more detail when we meet in grade level teams.

Peer Classroom Visits

We will starting peer classroom visits. If you are interested in tagging along for instructional rounds, please let me know! I think it will be beneficial for each of you to be able to see and share the wonderful things occurring in your classrooms.

Coaches' Corner

Technology Tip: Apple Clips

Clips is an FREE iOS app (rated 4+) designed for making and sharing short-form videos with with text, effects, graphics, and more. You add content by recording it on the spot or grab a video clip or photo from your library. Live Titles let you easily create animated captions just by talking as you record using Siri speech to text conversion. You can choose from a variety of styles, all perfectly sequenced to the sound of your voice. This is a super fun and easy way to make videos! Look at my silly examples below!

Classroom Bulletin Boards and Magnetic Boards

I am looking into ordering magnetic dry erase panels/ boards and bulletin boards for the classrooms in the new building. Please talk as a team and let me know how many bulletin boards/magnetic panels you will NEED for your classroom. These are boards that will be used for things such as word walls, anchor charts, etc. Please keep in mind, the magnetic panels are approximately $1100 each. The picture below shows four of the panels.

THRIVE

Stonebridge Donation

Stonebridge has generously donated $24,000 towards an Innovation lab for our new school. We are so excited about this potential space and all of the incredible things you will be able to create with your students in the Innovation Lab.

As a thank you to their congregation for their donation, can you please have students write thank you cards? I am hoping to deliver them to the church next week.

February Break academic practice for students

Please begin brainstorming as teams some practice activities you can send home for students to work on over the break. This will not be mandatory, but an additional aid for students.

Teacher Spotlight...

This week we would like to spotlight Ms. Armour. She did a fantastic job of working with students in a guided reading group and applying the Jan Richardson lesson plan templates.

Team Spotlight

This week we would like to spotlight the 1st grade team. As a team they decided to focus on 5 key strategies during small group and conferring time. One of those strategies was to provide every student with an individualized goal. Below are some pictures of their individual student strategy/goal folders.
