Message from Superintendent Mike Johnson

The weeks prior to Thanksgiving are a wonderful time for reflection. School conferences allow families, students, and teachers to celebrate areas of growth and identify new learning targets while the holiday reminds us to express gratitude for those around us. Both fill me with appreciation.

I am grateful for our educators who are passionate about helping children. I have high appreciation for the hours spent preparing lesson plans, grading papers, and supporting students. Whether encouraging pupils to explore their strengths or standing with them during a moment of difficulty, our teachers and staff care and give their all.

I am grateful for our students who are striving and dreaming big dreams. I see all they want to achieve and am inspired by their enthusiasm for learning. They are the reason behind all we do.

I am grateful for our families and they way you encourage children to find their purpose and fulfill their potential. Time spent reading with your student, inquiring about homework, and exploring their interests is time invested in their futures. Thank you for allowing us to partner with you in your student's educational journey.

Finally, I am grateful for this community. Your support provides the foundation and means more to us than you know.

I hope each of you has a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday!

VFW Teacher of the Year - Kathi Holst

Congratulations to Creswell Middle School's Kathi Holst for being recognized as our VFW post's Teacher of the Year! Kathi, a special education teacher at CMS, has been teaching in Creswell School District for 25+ years and makes an important difference for our students and community. Whether serving as a mentor for other educators, partnering with parents, or creating individualized lessons and plans for students, Kathi exemplifies excellence in all she undertakes. "She goes above and beyond for kids and our Creswell community and is very deserving of the VFW Teacher of the Year Award," says CMS Principal Julie Johansen.
