Greetings from Dr. Gillett! Back to School 2022
Greetings Creekland Families!
Greetings Creekland Families,
Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! We are looking forward to the start of our new school year as we commence with In-Person instruction. This year we will begin with a staggered start. This allows for our students to engage in orientation and pre-learning activities to support their smooth transition back to the structure of the school environment. Our staggered start schedule will be implemented as outlined:
August 3, 2022 --- 6th grade students and small groups return to In-Person instruction; 7th and 8th grade students are digital
August 4, 2022 --- 7th & 8th grade students return to In-Person instruction
August 5, 2022 --- All grade levels are back to In-person instruction
Please be sure to send your child(ren) on the designated days as outlined. The day prior to the In-Person start will be a Digital Learning Day for 7th and 8th grade students. Each team of teachers will provide you with the digital day schedule and expectations at our Open House on July 29, 2022. Homeroom and team teacher information will become available the week of July 25th. The Open House schedule will be executed as outlined:
Session I: Students in all grade levels with the last names ending from A- M will visit
from 10am – 12noon;
Session II: Students in all grade levels with the last names ending from N-Z will visit
from 3:00pm- 5:00pm.
Please remember to join our awesome PTA. Membership will be accessible on the PTA Member Hub site. The work they provide and contributions to our school are invaluable. One example is our beautiful electronic marquee at the front of our school. Get your school spirit wear, it will be available on MyPaymentsplus.com and ready for pick-up at Open House. Show your Eagle Pride with the new gear!
This year we are excited about implementing The District’s Blueprint for the Future: Building the Bridge from Empathy to Excellence. We are committed to teaching the AKS daily while connecting to the Social and Emotional needs of our students. We will continue with our strong Literacy and Numeracy focus. Our goal is to implement more authentic learning experiences that supports students unplugging from social media and cell phones during the instructional day and plugging into those rich learning activities to stimulate their minds for the depth of instruction. As we reunite, we are looking forward to team building, critical thinking, hands-on experiences, and building positive relationships as one Eagle team. Please join us in putting our theme this year into action (Better Together)2.
Parents, we encourage you to be involved with the school community and support your child’s development throughout the wonderful but unique middle school years. As your child will develop and mature, your involvement is paramount to their success. Develop those teacher/parent relationships of communication and teamwork. We ask that you please encourage your child to get involved with one or more of our numerous school extra-curricular activities, student leadership opportunities, and/or clubs. We encourage students to sign-up for one of the Fine Arts programs. We have a variety of Connections’ courses that are designed to provide exposure for courses beyond the Core. Students, get involved in at least one activity of your interest; it is the best compliment to the middle school experience.
Parents, thank you for choosing Creekland to be partners in the education of your child. Together, we will improve student achievement through our vision of supporting Every Child, in Every Classroom, and we will maintain that standard Every Day.
Warm Regards,
Dr. Kimberly Gillett
Principal
