Spot Observations
Spot Observations have begun and I want to encourage everyone to review the rubric to help with the interpretation of scoring. Calibration exercises are underway and you will receive feedback along with an imbedded score within the feedback section. An administrator will follow up with a feedback session to discuss scoring. Remember all good lessons begin with a clear lesson objective. The bullet points in the image below are helpful in achieving a proficient score in domain 2.1
This week we visited Ms. Bershell's class where students had a clear rubric for the posters they completed. There was also a clear rubric for the presentation that would take place after each collaborative group completed their poster assignment on lab safety. Given the rubric, mastery was clearly defined for students and the students could reference the rubric for clarity regarding the assignment! Job well done Ms. Bershell.

Student Support
Tutoring and classroom instruction is just one way to meet the needs of students. However clubs and athletic teams are another way to effectively establish a rapport with the students we serve. The more student engagement, the better! This week I met with Mr. Hess and his group of future leaders, our Student Council. It was a joy to see the preparation the students put into their first meeting with me. I also had a chance to work with Coach Tyeskie, Coach Torres, and Coach Tennisson on actively recruiting football players for our freshmen and JV teams. After school, I jogged momentarily with Coach Samuels and our budding tennis team. Its exciting to see students actively engaged in class and these vital extra curricular activities. Thank you all supporting our students.
