Character Counts at Skyview - Honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. famously said, “Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education.” At the root of what we do, our goal is to work with students to grow into young adults who are positive, productive members of a community. One of the things that we have always done at Skyview has been to have purposeful homeroom activities that address character. These meetings and activities are always planned with purpose and we always seek to establish connections - both with the pillars of character and between the activities. As we head into the end of January and through February, we have a number of activities that our school community will participate in to engage with the pillar of respect. We begin by learning about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Our students will work with the resources contained in this newsletter (videos and a read aloud) to learn about Dr. King’s life and service.

The Methacton School District is hosting a DONATION DRIVE as our community service project for the MLK Day of Service on Monday, January 18, 2021 from 8AM to NOON. The event benefits the Methacton Backpack program, which supports students in need in our school community. Drop off your food and non-food donations at the East Wing (Athletics Main Office) Entrance of Methacton High School (1005 Kriebel Mill Road, Eagleville, PA). Look for the grey collection bins near the entrance. Go to www.methacton.org/methactonbackpack to learn more about the Methacton Backpack program. Please consider donating an item from the list below.

Please use the sign up link above or here if your "virtual" student will be coming to get their photo taken on January 25. Slots are available by half-hour time spans. The number of slots available per half hour are based on information from Lifetouch. There will be two photographer stations available.
Procedural points for evening photos:
- The Skyview Office team will be on site to assist with staging/lines for photos.
- Students may come in by themselves or with (1) parent/guardian. (Please do not bring other family members.)
- On entry (main doors), proceed down the Storm Chasers hallway and up the far stairwell. Line will form in the USA hallway leading to the upstairs lobby (where photos will be taken.)
- After photo is taken proceed to the right of the lobby; follow directional signs down the stairs (to music hallway) and out of the building.

This series is designed to help parents and caregivers, teachers, therapists, and administrators to learn how we can move together toward greater inclusion in our schools.
