Hornet Park Elementary Gets Playground Renovation
Thanks to everyone who volunteered to help give Hornet Park Elementary's playground a remodel last Saturday! A very special thanks to Lowe's who generously agreed to give the playground a much-needed facelift in their efforts to give back to the Beech Grove community! A BIG shout out to all involved: Lowe's, Crossway Community Church of the Nazarene, PTO, current and previous HP students and families, our school board family, HP staff, Brent Crouch, Joan Shaw, the Beech Grove Education Foundation, Starbucks, and Rick Landreth. It was a GREAT day to be a Hornet!

Pride of Indiana Field Trip
Free Field Trip for our 4th Graders in celebration of Indiana's Bicentennial!
The Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site (BHPS), together with the Indiana Statehouse Tour Office and the Indiana State Library, offered free field trips to serve 4th grade classes across the State of Indiana from 2014 to 2016, leading up to and in celebration of our state’s bicentennial. The field trip achieved 31 unique Indiana state standards and a purpose of instilling state pride via physical visitation, online interactives, and teacher/classroom support materials. Thanks to the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site, the Indiana Statehouse, and the Indiana State Library staff for providing this great opportunity for our 4th grade students at South Grove! Photos pictured below from the field trip courtesy of Mr. Yeoman, Ms. Sayers, and Mrs. Angie Johnson.

Send Us Your Hornet Highlights!
We know there are many, many positive stories about Beech Grove City Schools involving our students, teachers, staff, and programs that we don't always hear. If you have a positive story to share, please send the details to Melody Stevens, Community Relations Director, at mstevens@bgcs.k12.in.us. We also encourage you to send stories that include personal achievements of your child such as: attaining the rank of Eagle Scout, performing in a community play, earning Girl Scout badges, serving as a volunteer in a non-profit organization, etc., etc. You might just see your story in a future edition of the "Hornet Blast" or in one of our local south side newspapers. We want to celebrate our Hornets!
