Pastor Mary Beth’s Musings
Be it a driving test, lab results from your doctor, or the gender reveal of your coming bundle of joy, we want to know! We humans are an inquisitive people—we want to know the results!
AND how about this one, “How am I doing in my spiritual life? Am I daily learning to live and love more like Jesus?”
Our spirituality is important to us, and to God. In the Gospels Jesus often asked his followers to take an account of their spiritual journey. Were they making progress in the key core values of loving God and loving others?
Church leaders are called to “keep watch” over the health of their flock. (1 Peter 5:2) Are parishioners growing spiritually healthy? Are they pursuing godly habits and disciplines? Are they taking their faith out into their community? Are they living well with their families and the family of God?
This is an interesting season of growth and movement forward. Church leaders want to hear from you, those who call Vista Ridge their spiritual church home. So as we’re praying over the decision whether to sell 4+ acres to an interested developer, we will have two more meetings this Sunday at 9:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. for questions, conversation and prayer over the decision in anticipation of a called Church Conference on October 9 to make that decision. (The Church Conference has been delayed to allow time for an independent appraisal of the property). But we also want to know how you’re doing personally in your pursuit of learning to live and love like Jesus. One tool in this “listening” to our church family is a Spiritual Life Survey.
So here’s our ask—will you invest 15-20 minutes, go online, register your name, and then take the online survey? Though you are registering your name, your answers are ANONYMOUS. We need at least 100 adults (18 years of age and older) to take the survey to have good valid results. This is the link to the survey: https://polymer.gloo.us/invite/vistaridgeunite.
In more than one conversation about the potential land sale, there’s been mention of the need to have clarity about where God is leading us. And then on Sunday, someone asked me if we’re offering the survey because of the land sale. Interestingly, the answer is “no!” Plans for this survey were well underway BEFORE we were approached by the developer. So, isn’t it fascinating that God seems to be weaving together a lot seemingly unrelated opportunity!
I hope you’ll take a few moments to take the survey—God is calling us and you into something new. Let’s discern what it is together!
I’m praying for you. I hope you’re praying for me.
Glory to God!

Informational Meetings Sunday About Potential Land Sale
Informational meetings about a potential land sale have been set for 9:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Sunday, September 18. Vista Ridge has been approached by a developer who is interested in purchasing the 4.2 acres on the east end of our property. The meetings will brief attendees on the proposal and required process for a land sale, and allow questions, conversation and prayer over this decision in preparation for a called Church Conference. The Church Conference will be held at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, October 9, at which time church members will vote on whether to accept the offer. The Church Conference date was moved to allow time for an independent appraisal of the property.
