SCW Student and Parent Updates
November 6, 2023
Warrior Students and Families,
What a weekend! While we still have the showing of our Fall play, Alice in Wonderland, to look forward to, this past week saw the official close to our Fall Season for athletics and (almost all) activities. We would like to congratulate all of our athletes and performers on their seasons and performances. It is no easy task to balance the demands of the classroom with the demands of extracurriculars, but the rewards from these experiences are invaluable--not only to the individual but to the community as a whole. I would like to thank all of our students, especially those who have been actively participating in an extracurricular, for their efforts thus far this school year and commend them on their efforts. As I have said before, you are the lifeblood of our school, and your enthusiasm has fueled our school community and contributed to a wonderful school year to this point.
On that note, I would also like to acknowledge the performance of our Back-to-Back Missouri Class 3 Girls Cross Country State Champions! It is no small feet to run 3.1 miles, let alone to do so over cross country terrain and at a pace that makes me thankful to have motorized transportation (I wish I was joking...just look at their times below...Sheesh!). Watching these ladies compete over the last few years has been impressive to say the least. Their effort and commitment to excellence is evident in their performance. Most impressive, however, is watching them perform at such an extraordinary level while maintaining such an impressive record of academic excellence and citizenship along the way. These ladies have been, and continue to be, excellent examples of what it means to be a Warrior! Please help me congratulate them on a wonderful season and an impressive accomplishment.
For the record, this team has now won three state championships in the school's history (1998, 2022, and 2023) and adding a second place finish in 2021 has won three straight team awards at the MSHSAA Girls Cross Country State Championships. We couldn't be more proud of this group and their coaches! Congratulations!
Have a great week, Warriors!

Important: Student Discipline Update
Students and families, we are aware that there have been some ongoing issues in our restrooms including loitering, vaping, etc. While these issues may at times be isolated, we want to ensure that these spaces are safe and comfortable for all of our students. Please see below:
Some students are currently congregating in the restrooms and are then late to class. Congregating in the restrooms is discouraged and any student not using the facilities will be asked to leave the restroom and go to class.
Unfortunately, we have seen an increase in issues with students vaping in the restrooms. Often times this occurs in the stalls of the restroom and students may congregate within individual stalls. Ultimately, there is no legitimate reason that more than one student should be in any restroom stall at any one time. Therefore, if students are found in the same stall, they will be issued consequences for not following directions and an immediate investigation for vaping will be conducted.
In addition to discipline according to the Code of Conduct, student's involved in activities may be subject to additional restrictions according to the school activities handbook including a minimum activities suspension of one-third of the student athlete's season.
Ultimately, we would like all of our students to make safe, positive choices that strengthen the culture and climate of our school. Thank you for your support as we continue to encourage these choices.
Students Staying After School
Attendance and Tardy Information
Attendance Matters
Regular attendance is one of, if not the most, important factors for a student's success in school. The minimum goal for each student is to be in attendance at least 90% of the time that school is in session. In order to qualify for A+ and other schoolwide recognitions, students must maintain at least a 95% attendance rate. Below you will find some recommendations for maintaining excellent attendance throughout the year:
- Try to schedule appointments outside of the school day. If you have to schedule an appointment during the school day, please plan on being at school before and/or after the appointment if at all possible.
- Illness happens! Please keep your student home if they have any of the symptoms below:
- fever over 100.4 within the last 24 hours without medication.
- severe cold symptoms
- vomiting or diarrhea
- significant sore throat
- unexplained cough/shortness of breath
- signs of conjunctivitis (pinkeye)
- If your student contacts you during the school day because they aren't feeling well, please have them see the school nurse. She will communicate with you to determine whether or not your student will need to go home for the day.
Tardy/Late to School Policy
In addition to being here each day, being on time to school is so important! Please work hard to get here with enough time to be in classrooms by 7:20 am every day. When a student arrives at school between 7:20 am and 7:30 am, they will be issued a tardy. The first one is a warning. Each one after that is a detention. Parents, you can email attendance at aregot@stcharlessd.org, send a handwritten note in with your student, or call the attendance office at 636-443-4245 (please leave a message if no one answers) to excuse their tardiness.
When a student arrives at school after 7:31 am, they will be issued a 10 minute+ tardy. The first one is a warning. Each one after that is a referral to their principal with consequences assigned following the District Code of Conduct.
Please be aware of the 10 minute athlete rule which also applies to dances, concerts and performances. This means if you are more than 10 minutes late, you will not be able to participate in practice, performance, or a game that day. If you are more than 10 minutes late on a Friday prior to a dance being held on a Saturday, you will not be able to attend the dance. If you have questions about this policy, please feel free to reach out with questions.
If you arrive at school with a note from a doctor, a tardy will not be issued.
