Recap of Last Issue:
Be sure and look back if needed for any information on:
- Changes to LIP TIA requirement: We are able to eliminate any further need for the 5 target areas for the LIP students to be documented in an ARD. You no longer need to do amendents or document in any future ARDs.
- Thank you to so many for celebrating our LSSPs the last two weeks! They are amazing and we are so grateful for them!
- The behavior dashboard is updated weekly. Dashboard, Video Tutorial
Holiday Respite - Volunteers Needed!
We are excited to once again host the Holiday Respite Event. This event allows for our families to have a few hours on Saturday morning to go Christmas Shopping, have some time to themselves or spend the time however they need.
If you are willing to volunteer, please sign up on this 22-23 Holiday Respite Volunteer Form. The event is being held on December 10th, 9am-noon, at Tomball Elementary.
Parents will be receiving the below registration letter and link to register by their teachers!
Welcome LeAnne Towns
Impact Statement Criteria
Document the impact of the disability in the FIE and IEP by making sure your statement includes the following:
· Indicates the student’s disability
· Describes how the disability manifests itself in a performance area(s)
· States how this impacts the student’s involvement and progress in the general education curriculum
See examples here. Please share this with your special education teachers.
Impact Statement Department Goal: We currently are at 10 % of our goal to include well-written Impact Statements in our FIE and IEPs.
GameChanger Challenges for the Week
- Something to be thankful for: Our team. I have been surrounded with collaboration this year between O&M, OT, & PT. Having that much support for our students makes making decisions and being on the same page so much easier. This is the best team I could ask for, and am so incredibly thankful!
- I just wanted to take the opportunity to shout out how thankful I am for you, the leadership team, and the leadership collaborative. I always feel fully supported in whatever challenge I face and am always thankful that each success was a team effort.
- Letting you know how thankful I am for the Lakewood Team. You may know that we have a new contract OT who is working with us this year. This is her first year transitioning to schools from the clinic and is a relatively new OT. She is very talented but as is typical, her introduction to her first year in schools has been filled with sick children in addition to the stresses of a whole different way of thinking. Additionally, the Lakewood team took on the challenge to complete two evaluations within one week. Kelly, Jennifer, and Kim have been a wonderful support to Kristy. As we prepare to begin the Thanksgiving holiday, my heart is filled with gratitude for their kindness.
- I am thankful for my students. When having a hard week, they are my reminders of why I do what I do. I am also very thankful for my admin team at NIS. Dr. Cain and Mr. Shepley are amazing leaders.
- I am thankful for everything in my life - it could always be worse, harder or less. I am truly blessed.
