School Safety
CTA Goodman Dedicated to Student Safety August 24, 2021
Review of School Safety
We are sending this out so everyone can review again our Safety Protocol. We have been noticing that not all of our protocols are being followed and puts student's safety at risk.
Please read the information below in it's entirety.
I understand that our traffic is a lot bigger than it was last year. We have added 100 more students back to campus our enrollment is at 675. Before COVID-19 we had 753 students on campus and these safety protocols did work well. We ask you to be patient.

Walkers: Who Can Walk Home?
- Only students that live in the CTA Goodman boundary.
- Students in Kindergarten and 1st Grade are not permitted to walk home unless they are accompanied by an older sibling, providing the students live within the designated school boundary.
- Students in 2nd Grade through 6th Grade are permitted to walk.
Does My Student Need a Walker Tag?
The Walker Tag System was put into place beginning with the 2017.18 school year.
- We issue walker tags to only those students with an address that indicates they live within the designated neighborhood school boundary.
- Walker tags are issued to students notating which gate they will use throughout the year. Each tag will have the gate name and a specific coordinating color.
- Only students with the correct tag will be able to ENTER and EXIT via the gate.
The above Walker Tag System is NOT NEW - This system has not changed since it was implemented in 2017.18. This system was put in place for safety. We know who enters and exits our two back gates.
Open Enrollment Students
Parents are responsible for their student's transportation to and from school.
Bicycles and Scooters
- 2nd - 6th Grade students are permitted to ride bicycles or scooters to and from school with parental consent. Students are asked to walk their bikes or scooter while on campus and use the designated crosswalks. Failure to do so may result in the student losing the privilege of riding his/her bike or scooter.
- Students are asked to park bikes and scooters in our bike rack on the East side of campus and secure them with a sturdy lock.
Parent Drop-off & Pick-up
- Please have your car sign displayed.
- Please stay in the line while entering the parking lot and follow signs.
- Do not park your car in the drop-off/pick-up lane and leave it unattended.
- Pull all the way forward to the furthest point possible (follow signs)
- Once your car comes to a complete stop, students may open their own door to exit
- Children can only enter the car from the right side.
- Please remain in your car.
- Teachers or safety patrol will open the door and help your child into the car if needed.
- If you need to assist with buckling your child in/out of the car please park in the front parking lot and walk to pick up/drop off your child.
- Parents must come to the gate to pick up your child/ren. Please walk up with your car sign so the person on duty can radio for your child/ren.
We have been seeing parents pull through the parking lot and letting students out. Our parking lot isn't a drive through drop off zone.
East Crosswalk Near Drop Off Gate
- Please DO NOT advise your student to cross until you receive the "OK" from the crosswalk monitor.
- Mrs. Graham is usually monitoring the crosswalk, please wait for Mrs. Graham to signal your student to cross as she is trying to move traffic at the same time.
