Captain's Log
PASS CHRISTIAN PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT
Ahoy, Pirates!
Good morning, evening, or night...I have my Citizen Aid training certificate. Do you have yours? Your and our children's safety is our top priority. Please make sure that you honor our belief that centers around this training; we believe students excel when all are accepted, valued, and safe. Now that all Citizen Aid kits have been disseminated and we have completed training, let's all heighten our sense of awareness about our surroundings. Be sure that you and the students are cognizant of the school's safety plan. It is important that behavior during emergency drills is serious.
In the training, it talked about getting to know your SRO better. Make sure you take time to talk to Officers Dedeaux, Johnson, and Shoulders and Deputy Williams about things you notice around the school or district that may pose a threat. These gentlemen work closely with your school administrators and Mr. Tim Allen to ensure everyone's safety. They quietly put in countless hours to that effect. Thank you to our safety team for helping us stay mission-minded. We appreciate all team members completing the training by the February 28 date. Please make sure your principal and Mr. Allen both have a copy of your certificate.
With that, I submit the Captain's Log. #2020vision #committedtoeXcellence #eXcellencemarksthespot cje

Pirates Count Census 2020
Be Counted in the 2020 Census!
Prepare to be counted, Pirate Nation!! We want our community to have the highest count rate!
This March, households will begin receiving Census 2020 mail outs. During the last Census, Mississippi lost a congressional district and representation. Our schools stand to lose federal dollars as well. For the first time in history, you will be able to respond online as well as traditional ways--by mail or phone.
March 2-6, 2020 — Statistics in Schools Week: join in as schools across the nation teach about the importance of the 2020 Census.

A Word From Kelly Riley (Pirate Alum): "The 2020 Census is coming! Beginning March 12, Mississippi households will begin receiving official Census Bureau mailings with detailed information on how to respond to the 2020 Census online, by phone, or by mail. This is the first Census that will be available online. It is critical that every Mississippian be counted, as our state will lose $20,000 in federal funding over the next 10 years for each adult not counted and $27,000 for each child not counted. The 2020 Census count will impact federal funds that our state receives for critical educational programs, including special education, classroom technology, teacher training/professional development, after-school programs, and school lunch assistance. The U.S. Census Bureau’s Statistics in Schools Program offers resources and activities that you may use in your classroom to support efforts to make sure every child is counted in the 2020 Census."
