Principal's Message

Parents, We are trying a new format for our newsletter this month. We hope it is easily accessible for you on both your computer and smart phone. Any feedback on the website would be appreciated!! We include a lot of information in our newsletter, and it is all equally important, so please read the newsletter all the way through. We have our upcoming dates at the bottom of the newsletter, so please refer to that calendar to know what great things are going on at Vogel!

We are also including a feedback form in our newsletter. As part of our parent survey that we distributed in January, we want to be sure that parents have a way to share their opinions and suggestions, as well as kudos to staff. The link to the feedback form is below. Thank you for taking time to help us improve!!

No Morning Drop-Off Before 8:00am

Parents, Do not drop students off before 8:00am, or allow them to walk or ride their bike to school before 8:00am. We are getting many students arriving before they can enter the building, and there are NO staff members on duty before 8:00am. We have had a couple of injuries because of the number of students running around before the doors open. We want to keep everyone safe, and we want to start the day on a good note, so we appreciate you following this very important morning safety procedure.

Great Things are Happening at Vogel!!

Parent Feedback

In an effort to improve our practices at Vogel, we are seeking feedback from parents. There are opportunities to share ways to improve, share strengths, and to share kudos to staff. This feedback form will be in every newsletter and on our webpage for the immediate future. Thank you for taking time to support Vogel Intermediate!

Staff Appreciation Station

This year we are trying something new and we would love your help with this at home with your child. We are setting up an "Appreciation Station" in the cafeteria for the month of April, and we are asking parents, teachers and students to write a little not to anyone here at Vogel to let them know how much you really appreciate them. Just select a Thank you paper below, or at school, fill it out and send it to school with your child to put in the appreciation box in the cafeteria. Please see the information page and two sample thank you notes below. We will distribute the notes during Teacher Appreciation Week, May 7-11. Thank you for your support in appreciating the staff!!

STAAR Testing Next Week

Students in 5th grade will be taking the STAAR test next Tuesday, April 10 (Math) and Wednesday, April 11 (Reading). On these two days, we ask that parents not come to have lunch with their children or drop off lunches. Students who are testing will be eating lunch in their classrooms at times other than their normal lunch period. Students can buy lunch at school, or bring a sack lunch.

We also want to make sure that students get a good night's sleep on these days, eat a good breakfast, and arrive to school one time. Please make sure that students dress in layers, as rooms tend to be a bit cool. Also, please refrain from scheduling appointments on these two days. Thank you for your support!

Game Night sponsored by PTO and Student Council

The Vogel Student Council will be hosting a Game Night for Vogel Students. For $10 students will be able to stay after school for a night of fun games with their Hero Squad. The heroes are all of the kids that sign up because by signing up you are contributing to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society Pennies Campaign. Our school will be transformed to an enjoyable atmosphere of games and prizes. We will have food, drinks and snacks provided. We will also have a movie and music room set up for you to enjoy!! The first 150 students to return this form will be admitted to stay.
