Time to Turn the Clock Back!

Daylight Saving Time ends this weekend. Don’t forget to set your clocks back one hour before you go to bed on Saturday.

Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) Days

On October 29th, you received and email from Nicole Kirby about Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) Days. If there were to be a "snow" day this year, students would continue to learn from home by having an AMI day. The Park Hill website has more information about the plan for AMI Days in Park Hill. Additionally, at Southeast:

  • We will follow a normal ABCD day, so students will receive work from their normally scheduled specials teacher.
  • Please don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher if you need additional support throughout the school day.

We are excited for the opportunity to utilize distance learning from home instead of calling a snow day that could impact our last day of school. Thank you for your continued partnership as we navigate these changes!

Scholastic Book Fair

Our Scholastic Book Fair will be here next week! It will run from Our Scholastic Book Fair will be here next week! It will run from Monday, November 2nd- Friday, November 6th.

Unfortunately, we cannot have parent volunteers in the building, so Mrs. Daly and Mrs. Lassiter will help students pick out books to purchase during library on their Library Specials day if their families have set up an eWallet account through Scholastic. A letter and flier came home previously explaining how to set that up. Since time is limited in library, students will not be checking out library books during the fair.

As a time saver, we will NOT be accepting cash, checks, or credit cards. Therefore, the only 2 ways to purchase are in person with an eWallet account and online. You can visit our Online Fair here to shop online or set up your eWallet account. For eWallet, scroll to the bottom of the online page where it says “Go Cash Free” and “Get Started.” You will need to create a login and then fill out the eWallet form.

eWallets- This is an account you create through Scholastic to load money for your child to spend. Any left over money can either be donated back to the school or be spent on online shopping. Orders of $25 or more have free shipping.

Message from Mrs. Daly- Click here to watch a video how to set up an eWallet account.

WHEN: Nov. 2-6 during library classes

WHERE: Southeast Library

PAYMENT: eWallet or online (no cash, checks, or credit cards accepted)

2nd Semester Enrollment Window

Without action, your child will continue with his or her current learning mode (online or in-person) during second semester. Be prepared that, for this year, your student may or may not have the same teacher and/or classmates for the second semester that have been in place for the first semester.

During the enrollment window from October 29 – November 13, you are able to change learning options in the Parent Portal. An email was sent on October 29 to remind you of your student’s current learning mode. There is a link to the portal if you would like to make a change. There are several ways to get help throughout the enrollment window if you need it:

Online Student Pictures

Park Hill Online students are invited to have their picture taken for the yearbook on November 20th by appointment only. Please note, the pictures are used for our school yearbook. Please use the SE Online School Picture SignUp Genius to sign up for a time to have your child's picture taken. Pictures will take place in the gym and students will enter through the gym door (door #8). Online teachers realize that students might miss some of their Zoom meetings that morning when they are getting their picture taken.

Please contact your child's online teacher with any questions.

Park Hill Clothing Center

The Park Hill Clothing Center has had a huge amount of clothes donated and is on a donation freeze right now. Once they are taking donations again our PTA President, Beri Edwards, will send out an email, and we will post an announcement in this family newsletter. Thank you so much for your continued support of this resource!

Leadership Points

This year we are working hard to recognize students for all the great things that they are doing. When staff notice students following our school PBIS expectations (Be Safe, Be Kind, Be Proactive, Be a Leader) they often award students a Leadership Point.

During first quarter, we have awarded total of 50,858 points! This week we awarded 7,739 points!

Do you know a Park Hill Star?

The Park Hill Star recognition program was started in 2015 to celebrate support staff and teachers whose work is especially noteworthy.

The following is an overview of the Park Hill Star Program:

Our employees are the reason we are so successful here in the Park Hill School District, and we would like to recognize them for all they do for our students. That is why we present the Park Hill Star award once a month to a pre-K or elementary teacher, a secondary teacher and a support employee.

Southeast Communication

You will find several ways to stay up to date on school activities on the Southeast website , Facebook, and newsletters from your child’s teacher. You will also occasionally get an automated email or voicemail message sent to you, by the school, with important information and reminders. We know two-way communication is best, so please feel free to call or email with any questions you may have regarding your child’s education.
